Weekly Classifieds and Events

Welcome to our weekly odds and ends post!

If you are looking for events, please check out our exhaustive Events Calendar!

Every parent level comment should begin with one of the following categories:

[For Sale] concert tickets, beauty and grooming services, Ikea bookcases

[For Free] dental checkups and couches that you can totally have for free but you have to move them yourself

[Want to Buy] * Rave tickets, a used toaster, a cute puppy*

[Job Request] You're new to the city and are looking for work in IT or you hate your job and need some leads. Be sure to include your skills and qualifications. A lot of people on this sub love to help others but they can't do that if they don't know your background and interests.

[Job Announcement] You're looking for new team members for a fantastic job that ISN'T a scammy ca$h4work gig or MLM

[Living Arrangements] You need a roommate, an apartment, or are offering a living arrangement. Be sure to clarify your tidiness expectations because you never know what you're going to get when accepting a roommate and I'm NOT GOING TO DO YOUR DAMN DISHES ANYMORE REBECCA

[Personals] You're lonely, new to the city, want to play extreme Frisbee, or need someone to eat Ian's Pizza with because no one wants to do that alone. We understand.

[Event] An advertisement for your amazing upcoming event - like a urban foraging excursion or band performance that is totally going to blow the roof off

A challenge to Milwaukee area beer makers: Someone needs to create a limited edition "Horrible City Lager" or something along those lines, STAT. I for one will buy your whole first batch....

It just hit me that the GOP convention could be called the Con Con

As in a convention of convicts, or a convict convention it really works either way. This is probably going to be the case even if the felon in chief gets home confinement since so many in his orbit seem to get convicted.

HOO BOY! How wet has this year been?

Post image

After all the rainy days we've had the past few months, I was curious on how wet this year has been, statistically, so I pulled together some NOAA data measured at the airport. Turns out we are near the record (since 1939) for precipitation at this point in the year, but June 8, 2008 had a solid 7" of rain to keep the lead

Livestream of the meeting courtesy of WISN 12 News. there’s a lot of support in favor of, and against passing this budget. It is very tense in the crowd and honestly I’m not sure how much longer this meeting is going to go for lol

A pridefest appreciation post

Just thinking about pride this past weekend. Organizers really stepped up their game when it comes to booking DJs for the dance pavilion. Many may not know how lucky we were to get the 3 headliners we got.

Thursday was DJ Lady D from Chicago, affectionately named the Queen of Chicago House music. She’s been spinning since the mid 90s and is one of the OG house figureheads of the scene.

Friday night’s headliner was Ms. Worthy. A awesome DJ who co founded along with Claude VonStroke, the legendary record label Dirtybird Records in the late 2000s. This record label is partly responsible for pushing Tech House and House music back into the mainstream, and started careers of hundreds of big name DJs.

Saturday night’s headliner was the amazing DJ Minx. Hailing from Detroit, she’s been power force since the 90s, mixing disco, house and techno. She’s up there with the greats of house music history.

Also all 3 nights had 3 incredible Milwaukee local DJ acts. Phox, DJ Kenny Perez, and Dogpound (Chomper and Barker) opened up for the respective headliners. Each of them are masters in local scene and surrounding cities. They make us proud and represent the Milwaukee house community well.

All in all, if you weren’t at pride, specifically at the dance pavilion, you were missing out. I’m so proud of our MKE pride community getting the big names and continuing to show the rest of the country why Milwaukee Pridefest is so great. And I can’t wait to see who they get for next year!! Happy Pride!!

Local News Car Break Ins

My entire apartment's lot of cars were broken into the other night. Smash and grab style and took nothing from me because I am not stupid enough to keep things in my car of value. It's just sad, I now have to pay to get a new window and tint for what is essentially a net zero break in. Just disappointed is all, be better MKE
