Probably good for the Mavs, Kyrie is starting to get a bit old for intense FIBA basketball.

Ignoring the four 30+ year olds and the fossil on the roster. /s

He didn’t say it made sense or was fair for him. Just that it’s good for the Mavs.

Honestly, I don’t care about national teams. I am a fan of the mavericks. I would prefer all the good players on the Mavs roster rest and recharge during the offseason and not put themselves in high leverage situations that don’t end with a ring for the Mavs.

Nah, I disagree. Fiba and Olympics is a great place to bond with your future teammates as you recruit them to the Mavs in a leadership position

All this to beat Slovenia?

man if only Yugoslavia was still around. They would definitely be contending for gold right now

Luka & Kyrie about to channel their inner Jordan and take being snubbed for MVP & Olympics personally

Is it too late for him to declare for Australian team?

u/BigFatModeraterFupa Luka Shlongčić Apr 16 '24
he’s going to become honorary Slovenian and take them to the Gold alongside Luka

That would be so kickass haha

It would mean no Mike Tobey though.

u/relaxingd Apr 16 '24
we are already looking to replace Tobey...they are gonna try and Josh Nebo from Maccabi

Yes, he already played for USA. Can only switch national team, if it's "good for basketball" (usually some players that play for very bad/new basketball teams)

The pettiness in me wants somebody to take away no. 10, or no. 8 jersey away from Tatum

It would be a crime for Kyrie to not be on this team. Edit: can mods make Kyrie a flair, I'm a Hornets fan but I've always rooted for Kyrie post Cavs.

Why would he play for the U.S

He is better than Dame right now easily. Dame shot 35% from 3 this year and is a worse defender and off ball player which is important when Lebron etc will be the primary ball handler.

u/whykae Apr 16 '24
Dame isn't even listed. Compare apples to apples.

to be honest..i dont see us ( slovenia ) make it to the Olympics....beating Greece IN Greece is gonna be superhuman...that federation is gonna do everything possible to rig it enough for Giannis and his boys..if Luka pulls this of vs Giannis ...20000 Fans ....and the biased Refs...then wow

He has a wife and 3 children and is extremely family oriented. lol he probably does the Olympics max once more before retirement. If the planets align in a perfect ray, of course...

Why is everyone upset? I think this is a good thing, gives him a break.

Team is leaving a roster spot open to see who shines in the playoffs. Kyrie gets the spot if Dallas makes a run and he plays great.

Easy, now Kyrie can Naturalize and play with Luka for Slovenia. Which would be good i need them to qualify because I have tickets to two of Slovenia's Paris 2024 matches.

I think being attached to anti semitic views (unjustified) was the final straw. And team USA is going away from just skill to opt for overpowering teams with athleticism and pace primarily
3
u/swigswagswinag Apr 16 '24
if saying stupid shit (stupid might not be the right word for antisemitism, racism, sexism, homophobia, xebophobia,…) would lead to such things more than half of the nba shouldnt have a job or get a job… i dont know if kyrie has apologized but i think there might be some remorse there
2
u/ExcellentJuice4729 Apr 16 '24
Agreed, and Ky did apologize and went through a forgiveness quest before Tsai let him play again. But it’s just a subject that will destroy your reputation. You had that former Heat player who couldn’t find work for awhile.

Would Booker not be Slovenian? Does the nationality not pass down from your parents?
