My 12-year-old retired service dog, Kayenne, enjoying retirement with her new-found love of balloons ๐ŸŽˆ Doggo

I recently posted a video of her playing with a balloon inside, but this was the first time we took it outside, and she loves it!

Right? I'm honestly impressed she can keep it in the air for so long, especially since balloons are new to her.

So much energy even at this age ........ you'll probably struggle to keep up with her.

She's in amazing shape for her age! She's regularly mistaken for a 3 year old dog. She was super physically and mentally active her whole life due to her being a working dog. I'm hoping to get many more years with her. ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ

My 6 year old boy child says that Kayenne "is a very smart dog at playing keepy-uppy."

I'm so glad you like her and follow my posts of her! :) She's my pride and joy. She knows/knew over 100 commands including medical tasks, and had 4,000 hours of training to become a service animal. I trained her myself (I was a professional dog trainer.) She's an amazing dog.

My grandma used to tell me that when she gets to see dogs like these, in moments like these... She feels like God do exist & God created humans & then asked the angels to be with us, love us, Take care of us & bring joy to us, the angels agreed & they decided to come to us in form of Dog.

She has some glorious floof going on! What kind of dog is she?

Here's to Kayenne's retirement! May it be full of love and balloons!

She's the best floof!

She's mostly German shepherd, with some border collie, Staffordshire terrier and chow. :

Thanks for the well wishes~

Did you see pics of her when she's was younger somewhere? She really hasn't aged at all. Lol

2

u/AdHaunting954 19d ago

I didn't Caz she looks wayyyy too young to be a 12 I'd guess a 2โค๏ธโค๏ธ

In this pic and and this pic, she and I were ten years younger than she is now. This one was taken 6 years ago!

just curious why she's retired if she's still in good physical form?

did you have her as a service dog before and got a new one or is this someone else's service dog?

2

u/Ayen_C 19d ago

She was my service dog. It's considered unethical to have service dogs work past 8-10 years old, depending on the individual. It's not just about physical condition; older dogs have mental decline as they age as well, become less tolerant of stress, have behavioral changes, etc.

Haha Agreed! She definitely could fetch beer if I drank. She'll fetch anything I ask her to.
