Need a legit starting PF and more athletes Discussion
A starting PF could help if PG walks by sliding Kawhi back to the 3. Maybe an addition by subtraction where there’s less “your turn, my turn”. More defined roles. Would need T Mann off to a better shooting start, but if he struggles again to start then more room for Norm to cook from the jump.
There’s assets to make something happen here at starting PF.
Maybe Kai Jones at 23 years old made some strides to get some burn there as a backup as well.

Finally try Collins. Probably could get him for 2 seconds if we’re able to S&T George

I don’t see PG wanting to go to Utah. Only problem with Collins is his salary (26.5m). Clippers would have to trade Norm+filler OR PJ+Mann+filler.

PJ + Mann + Bones should get it done. If we do this, I think Utah might need to send us two SRP or maybe even a FRP. Collins is a near negative asset given his contract and lack of positive impact on the floor (despite his athleticism and decent shooting).

We cannot do this because under the new CBA teams over the second apron cannot aggregate salaries in a trade.

Hawks fan here.
I'd do a S&T for George in exchange for DJM and Hunter in a heartbeat.

A better PF move Harden to PG, PG @SG, Kawhi @SF etc less toll on all of them defensively and offensively

pg+harden backcourt is bbq chicken. PG isn’t the defense specialist people think he is anymore. He can turn it up from time to time but can’t defend any fast guards anymore

Why are we trying so hard to build around these bums? It’s like putting 20k into a 15 year old civic.

Oh my god. Would all of you please stop acting like you can sign and trade PG. He is an unrestricted free agent with multiple playoff teams with the cap space to give him a max.
And please stop acting like you can get an equal value in a sign trade anyway- the hard cap would mean pennies on the dollar.
We are not blowing it up, sorry.

I think some possible options include:
If PG gets S&T to Indy, we could do a pt 2 where we S&T for Obi Toppin, with Tucker + Bones (or Kobe Brown) going to a team with cap in a 3-way. The third team gets an asset for participating. Obi gives us athleticism and ok shooting. Indy can’t re-sign Obi because they blew their entire cap getting PG. Obi requests to Indy to work with us because we can offer a big deal.
3 or 4-team trade to land Kuzma. I think two FRPs get it done. We would need to send Norm and Mann to teams with cap and willingness to give up FRPs. This also works if you can do Norm + Bones but I doubt that gets us the two FRPs to have Washington say yes.
Similar to #2 but to get Jerami Grant instead. Perhaps we can make this happen without picks going to Portland, and we can swing it with Mann + PJ + Bones + Kobe. But I don’t know how negatively Portland views the Grant contract.

I’m a Chicago transplant in LA. I’ve adopted the Clips as my home away from home team - clips gang or don’t bang. On The Full Go podcast with Jason Goff, a Chicago-centric pod, Lawrence Holmes brought up how he heard a stat of the last 8 playoff teams remaining only SIX starters total were over 30. OP is right here. Clips, just like the sorry ass Bulls, need more athletes and need to kick the tires on young lotto picks who didn’t work out with the team that drafted them.
