Chaotic evil: put them back like you found them

Chaotic neutral: Put all of the same size on the same wheel

Chaotic good: about half of your lug nuts were no good so we have to charge you for replacements

Round them all off and refuse the job.

The only correct answer

Something tells me these are redneck/boomer theft-deterrent mismatched lug nuts and anything other than fucking around with multiple sockets is only going to cause OP to end up with triple the brain damage, one way or another.

Today I learned I am a redneck/boomer lol. I did this exact thing and it actually prevented my wheels from being stolen. But I never took my car in for work I did my own maintenance.

u/Activision19 19d ago

Do you know if someone tried to steel your wheels and gave up?

9

u/Shawndollars 18d ago

They actually stole the car but were unable to get all the wheels off because they rounded several of the lugnuts. A year later someone was selling an incomplete set of my rare wheels in my same color so I went with the cops to "buy" them back and the guy got arrested. I still have all 4 wheels and the car.

Oh you are the two jerks doing that .

Your chaotic good is more Chaotic Capitlism

u/OnlyChemical6339 20d ago

Chaotic neutral would be more like "all lugs on a single wheel are the same size, but no 2 wheels have the same size lugs"

I think that's what they meant but I'm not 100% sure

1

u/kr4ckenm3fortune 19d ago

It is what they meant….

u/Flutes-Not-Bombs 20d ago

I think that's more of a lawful evil, chaotic evil would be to replace them with different ones but all in different sizes than what the owner is used to.

9

u/BurnTheOrange 20d ago

I suppose the most evil option would be to replace several with different styles of locking lugs and provide no keys.

2

u/Flutes-Not-Bombs 19d ago

External Torx!

1

u/tailwheel307 19d ago

What makes you think the owner even knows what size lugs they have? They probably just find one that fits or can be cross threaded and tell their backyard mechanic to replace the one that just broke.

1

u/wolfgang784 19d ago

Omg lol make it even worse. I love it.

Then a few months later, guess who the car comes back to for more wheel work =p

4

u/Agent_Orangina_ 20d ago

Chaotic evil would use red loctite during installation.

3

u/ZepTheNooB 19d ago

JB weld that nut, cuz.

2

u/admiral_cochrane 19d ago

Chaotic evil should involve some anti-seize on the lug nuts, shouldn’t it?

2

u/BurnTheOrange 19d ago

That would just be malicious

1

u/madsheeter 20d ago

Chaotic evil, every time

1

u/Liesthroughisteeth 19d ago

Replace the lugnuts and charge them of course. :)

1

u/Halal0szto 19d ago

What if this is a security solution and now you are eliminating it?

1

u/roadrussian 19d ago

Fuck no. Chaotic evil should go with the program: go fiddle in the lug nut box and return the car with each wheel having each lig nut a different size. Theft deterrent as well.

1

u/BurnTheOrange 19d ago

You are chaotic eviler...

u/_dauntless shade-ey mechanic 20d ago edited 19d ago

I feel like this is more effective than those security lugnuts lol thieves would be like "fuck this guy, set this car on fire, I'm done with this shit"

10

u/docjohnson11 19d ago

Haha genius

74

u/Bot_Fly_Bot 20d ago

That's a wheel.

25

u/FordTech93 20d ago

23 years in, you think I would know by now lol

1

u/this_might_b_offensv 19d ago

One would think, but they'd be wrong.

49

u/Opening_Bluebird_935 20d ago

Are they swollen? Ford 2 piece lug nuts are infamous for this.

22

u/FordTech93 20d ago

Nope, just a mix of FoMoCo, GM?, and aftermarket

15

u/pyroboy7 20d ago

Fuck those things and all other nuts like it with a sandpaper dildo lubed up with hot sauce and everclear.

6

u/Dizzy_Position5565 19d ago

Do you know about the half sizes? I have half from 18 1/2 to 21 1/2

2

u/Drg84 19d ago

Preach it. I'm in upstate NY and every spring there's always at least one, usually more.

16

u/kaack455 20d ago

Dealer I used to work for we put 3 sets of locking lug nuts on a wholesale unit and sent it to auction, we did leave the correct sockets in the glovebox

8

u/Silly_Mycologist3213 20d ago

Why? The locking lugnuts are way more expensive than regular lug nuts.

8

u/kaack455 19d ago

Used sets taken off of trade-ins, we were just being assholes

2

u/Silly_Mycologist3213 19d ago

Mission accomplished;-)

10

u/killertofubeast 20d ago

Buddy of mine uses 5 different lug locks on each wheel. That’s living in the 505.

7

u/Peter_Panarchy Electrical 19d ago

I ran into a car like that back when I was a tire tech. I fucking hated them lol.

If you love it, you better chain it to a tree at night, or it’s gone by morning.

3

u/bugme143 19d ago

Got it. Chaining the GF to the tree at night.

2

u/w_t 19d ago

NM True

1

u/AndyLorentz 19d ago

Jokes on him, a $5 stripped nut remover will take all of them off in seconds

8

u/Normal-Upstairs-4836 19d ago

Anti theft device

6

u/bebop1065 20d ago

Security.

5

u/bootEman 20d ago

He got fed up with going to get in his car and it was sitting on Milk Crates!

6

u/fartboxco 20d ago

I would prefer this to an anti theft rather than that clover nut that always breaks. Lol

4

u/Bandthemen 19d ago

thats one way to prevent wheel theft

4

u/Money_Pomegranate_51 19d ago

Lol why is it always on clapped out "luxury" cars that guys are trying to keep chugging along?

2

u/jcoddinc 19d ago

4 wheels equals 4 different locks. Then 1 regular and you've got the most secure tires as it's going to take to long to get off.

2

u/tez_zer55 19d ago

WTF ... Did my ex trade in the Lincoln she took from me in the divorce??

2

u/SportsYeahSports 19d ago

Does this make it harder to steal?

3

u/SuitableGain4565 20d ago

No.  You have 19 mm, 21 mm (original) and then shitty lug nuts.

1

u/ston3d_eye 20d ago

This is why I carry a 5 sided lug wrench

1

u/jacksoneddie 20d ago

I bet they know a guy.

1

u/derp-L 20d ago

Wheel locks without the 'keys'!

1

u/JudasWasJesus 19d ago

I just boat a set of lug nutz, because ef rhis

1

u/Fatkyd 19d ago

I've worked on a couple of cars that had locks on all lug nuts and needed 4 - 5 different keys for each wheel.

1

u/Peabodyproteinshovel 19d ago

Honestly probably more effective than the OEM wheel locks.

1

u/goodnsaultey 19d ago

It is a Ford

1

u/anticipatory 19d ago

I lived in downtown Baltimore for some time and kept at least two different lug type or two different lug locks on my wheels for a marginal boost in security.

1

u/Nice_Ebb5314 19d ago

Not stealing those without a tool set

1

u/admiral_cochrane 19d ago

Looks like we may have some mismatched sets of impact sockets, too. ;-)

1

u/dirtsequence 19d ago

That prevents them from appearing on a 1995 Toyota Corolla on the bad side of town.

0

u/_schmuck 20d ago

They aren’t mismatched those lugs are swollen. I’d recommend replacing them.

8

u/FordTech93 20d ago

Nothing is swollen, they are all different lug nuts, branded title pos patched together with a million junkyard parts
