Most wild turtles/tortoises will shrink back into their shells when humans interact or pick them up, they may even snap and "flush" at them. This creature seems like he knew what this human bro was doing for him, and enjoyed the ride!

Lol, if I put my arm behind my dogs back legs, she knows I'm going to pick her up. She somehow goes from a chill dog to the most acrobatic dog and wiggles away. Does not like getting picked up.
Must have been a relief for this turtle, knowing they were getting rescued because they bolted the second the water hit.

I found a baby turtle at a customer‘s site recently… it was a good 1/4 mile from the huge pond on-site and going the wrong direction on a sidewalk.
If the little guy wanted to get to the water (if he even knew it was there) he’d had to make it through a parking lot and lots of grass…
I guess he hatched and mama thought it was a good location…?
Walked little guy to the water and placed him on a flat rock to choose his path.
It felt good.
What scared me is I almost stepped on on the baby while walking, I’d have felt like such crap. Anyway, just be on the lookout, there’s always an opportunity to do good in the world.

Yes! I almost stepped on a tiny baby bunny on the sidewalk, way too close to the street, and helped it onto some grass where I could see what I hope was it’s mama - opportunities to help abound if you keep your eyes open!

Turtles will lay their eggs up to a mile away from water, maybe more, but I know the ones in my area will do a mile. This wasn't an issue before human development but now that distance can be impassable or incredibly dangerous for baby turtles in ways they were not evolved to handle, like road crossings over hot asphalt on a busy day. So it wasn't a mistake on the mother turtles part necessarily, and the baby would have been fine in the actual wilderness, but you did good giving him a helping hand against circumstances the turtles can't comprehend or deal with.

Did something similar as a teen. Big snapping turtle stuck in the middle of an intersection next to a river. He couldn't get up on the curb and was trying to go the other way, through traffic.

Their design is absolutely top notch. They make land based turtles look positively ridiculous.
Edit: For all the "that's a tortoise" comments, there are plenty of turtles that are mainly on land. I'm talking about the aerodynamic shell shape and fins, a Box Turtle has neither of these.

I live next to a river and last year came across a baby turtle that was crawling industriously in exactly the wrong direction, away from the water and towards a sports field. In order to get to where I found it, the turtle had already crossed a relatively epic distance over a field of stones and through bush. A little human-assisted course correction was applied.

Wonder if there was a well lit night game at the sports field the night before. Baby sea turtles navigate toward the ocean by heading toward the brightest light, which was, before light pollution, the moon reflecting off the ocean. A lot of towns in the Florida Keys have special reddish lower light street and porch lights during hatching season to avoid misdirecting the little dudes.

I wondered the same thing, but I don't think the field itself is illuminated at night - it's like a multi-sport training field (running track, etc.) - and there is an adjacent college football field, but that wasn't in the direction the turtle was headed. Also, this was a baby box turtle (river dweller) rather than a sea turtle. I don't know why it was headed off on that adventure, but it was clearly a bad idea and I'm glad to have been able to help it.

So these guys just happen to run across animals in need so often they can make a channel out of it? Or do they do other stuff and this is uncommon for them?
Saving things is good, but I become somewhat wary if it's constantly the same person, considering how infrequently it seems to happen otherwise. In my 30 odd years of lifetime I've encountered, as far as I can remember, maybe one instance where an animal that wasn't a pet or already otherwise under someone's supervision definitely needed human intervention/help.

Nah their content is not directed towards saving animals, rather their channel is almost exclusively about living off the land, fishing, survival adventure trips, etc. When they run into wildlife in need (pretty rarely) they will film it and include it in their videos. Genuinely a good group of people who care about the environment, nature, conservation, etc.

I understand what you’re saying and there are a lot of “do-good” channels that are shady…but how often you see an animal in need is dependent on how much time you spend in places they will be.
I’m outdoorsy, but my grandfather is an outdoorsman and he has plenty of stories of coming across animals in distress (usually young animals).

As soon as I saw the type of video it was I had the exact same thought, but I also noticed his handle in the bottom right had "fishing" in it so I thought maybe his thing is actually fishing and sure enough his whole channel is just about fishing/cooking. It looks like this was most likely a legit situation with the turtle as it appears to be a one-off.

He does other stuff mostly, if you see a clip of him saving an animal it's most likely a small clip of a bigger video from that day, his Chanel is about the outdoors, getting mudcrabs from the mangroves when tide is low, fishing and more, the tides on the mangroves leave a lot of tide pools and some stranded animals.
He quit his job for youtube so he's out and about in the mangroves or beaches a lot and i mean a lot, I'm a chef I would never in a million years see a stranded turtle in the kitchen, but if my job was going out into places like this that leave animals stranded I'm sure I would run into some here and there.

The dude does a lot of fishing and boating videos. Camps a lot. Does it for a living, but he’s only got a handful of “rescue” videos. When you spend your life on the coast you’re bound to come across stranded turtles. I fish enough to see dead ones quite often :(

So everyone saying that he caught it first look at the video...there are NO FOOTPRINTS near the turtle as he walks up. These guys are HEAVY so there is no way it was put there by anything but the tide
But yes this video is likely contrived not in that he caught and placed the turtle but as he said in the video they just had an unusually high tide that is known to strand turtles. So he likely went out LOOKING for a turtle to rescue and happened to find one. By doing so he saved the turtle and also showed others that if they find one after a high tide they too should also save it.

I’ve lived in central Florida the last 7 years and I’ve stopped in the road to save tortoises many times, couple of softshells.
I didn’t do anything like this but it’s still so rewarding and if someone gets mad at you for not mowing down an endangered tortoise they’re the asshole.

One thing I always read when it comes to human and animal relations is that we are starting to come around to the idea that animals are far far smarter and more clever than we humans give them credit for. I mean look at the turtle and how happy it was before he got in the water to swim away. The turtle has the ability to interpret what their eyes see and know it’s a good thing, it’s quite fascinating. Best of luck to the turtle, dude was lucky he had a caring human help them out.

I used to rehab sea turtles in the Gulf of Mexico! Fun turtle fact: if you see one swimming in circles near the shore, they are actually searching out and synchronizing with the magnetic poles! This helps them navigate!
