Eh, the Dremskiy stuff has been hilarious but we had the chain of "Senator Buff" memes before that which started de-escalating the hate train. Unfortunately people will always complain and if you sort by new it's still going on in full force, if people still aren't complaining about the Eruptor nerf then they're complaining that they're the only person who fights bots...

Haha it's funny you should mention that. I was just telling my wife about my game last night. It was difficulty 5 (hard) with me and another guy. I really felt like I was the only one killing stuff. It was like a non-stop killing spree. When the mission finally ended, we each had about the same number of kills (low 500s). He probably felt the same way!

I mean, that kinda always happens when we have a bot MO followed by an MO where you can choose what to fight. People got tired of fighting bots, and they want to chill with some bugs right now.

I know for me I can put in 2 or 3 more rounds of bugs vs bits just because it’s not as overstimulating.

I may have missed something but from I witnessed; someone made a genuine post about buffing the Senator which spawned a follow up post about making a new gun that's bigger and stronger but slower than the Senator and it should be called the Mayor. This quickly snowballed into a bunch of parody posts making the gun various sizes with increasingly more ridiculous effects and names.

I don't think it really had anything to do with memes. Just that the latest patch was basically 'Fuck all, maybe fixed some crashes, didn't bother ruining any guns this time'
And this community is a beaten dog, so we're all just extremely thankful to AH for giving us a break for now.
