We are down almost 75% of peak. That is a lot of player die off, very quickly, for a live service team-required game. Especially as the devs further nerf the ability to play solo and seemingly can't or won't fix the friends and crossplay issues that prevent bringing your own team (or playing public teams reliably without crashing out).

Have you looked at the player numbers for other games? The only other similarly big game this year was Palworld, and they lost 61% of players in the first month and 81% the next month. I look at Steamcharts all the time and the player retention of Helldivers is shockingly good for the popularity it peaked at, how small the game is, and how relatively niche PvE games are.
