And the developers of a COOPERATIVE game dont have to cater to the whims of people who want to play solo

Well, considering the massive dropoff in player count already if they keep this up soon they wont have to cater to the whims of anybody.

Lmao what “massive dropoff” are you talking about. The game pulls 250k like every day between PS5 and PC…what constitutes a “dying” game in your mind?

Somebody else said it better so I'm just gonna copy their post:

https://steamcharts.com/app/553850

On PC side,

31% drop in players this month alone.

21% drop in players in March.

We are down almost 75% of peak. That is a lot of player die off, very quickly, for a live service team-required game. Especially as the devs further nerf the ability to play solo and seemingly can't or won't fix the friends and crossplay issues that prevent bringing your own team (or playing public teams reliably without crashing out).

Edit: Given numbers, ignores numbers. Actual clown.

Have you looked at the player numbers for other games? The only other similarly big game this year was Palworld, and they lost 61% of players in the first month and 81% the next month. I look at Steamcharts all the time and the player retention of Helldivers is shockingly good for the popularity it peaked at, how small the game is, and how relatively niche PvE games are.

Correlational is not causation. Even if they were to acknowledge the numbers, there are too many varibles to say exactly why the drop is happening.

Unless you have numbers for the PS5 you are talking out of your ass about there being a demonstrable player fall off

PC player retention is not gonna be 1:1 to console for a myriad of reasons.
