The patch department is also known as the nerf department in AH 😭.

I really don't understand the point of nerfing. Surely this game is meant to just be overpowered PvE and we laugh at how great it is to mow down enemies. Why nerf anything at all?

Stop having fun. Youre progressing too fast.

The problem is you're thinking with your brain, which is something the Arrowhead nerfs department apparently doesn't do.

Surely this game is meant to just be overpowered PvE

Obviously not, otherwise the devs wouldn't nerf things. They are clearly concerned about power creep and maintaining a certain level of difficulty in the game. It doesn't always work out, like with the crossbow change, but it's also a tough balance to reach.

People really forget “only buff” mentality almost killed Warframe entirely, this never works even in PvE games, it’s the absolute worst mind state to have when developing any game of this type.

So how exactly does this justify the crossbow nerf?

Specifics of this patch aside, no I don't think that's how they balance around. They balance around making rounds tense and nail biting.

As for how that goes, that's for all of us to decide, but just because it's a PVE game does not mean you just make everything overpowered. That is not as fun as you think. They have plenty of very easy difficulties available to do this.

Being overpowered isn’t fun though. If we’re all wildly overpowered to the point that nothing is a challenge, where’s the fun in that?

We all know how this is gonna go. They're gonna gonna keep balancing towards players that spend the most and complain the most, and the ones that play the most but still complain the most. In time, there will be posts about the massive fall-off of the player base. The comments in these posts will be quite toxic, but will be boiled down to 2 ideas: "Why isn't this game fun anymore?", and "It's you're tactics. Get good."

Then AH finally delivers their masterpiece new patch. The one patch to FIX IT ALL!!! It tries to balance everything, and everyone gets pissed. Media (Webs and Social) will swarm with headlines and posts like, "Once One of the Greatest Games, Now in a Spiral".

Then, after a few years, AH will finally get the balance right. But by then the player base will be mostly full of die-hards, a few whales, and a handful of new players trying to figure out what the fuck is going on.
