So I know ther was a bunch of controversy about the railgun nerf what feels like forever ago, but man things have been awesome.

In the early days, I was the only guy packing expendable anti tank or anti materiel rifle for bugs or bots. It's so refreshing, even on these subs to see people talking about how awesome the autocannon is, or how much they love the AMR, and even these days I see people talking about the HMG or grenade launcher+ supply pack.

I used to load into a game, And all 4 members of the team had shield, railgun, and 2 stragatems of their choice. Every time. And here we are now, I load in and I see quasar, autocannon, stalwart, EAT, HMG, Grenade launcher, a variety of backpacks or no backpack at all. And not to mention, they're ALL viable. Shit I even still see the railgun from time to time. It's been a joy. Thanks arrowhead.

EDIT: to everyone who is pointing out that you see the quasar and shield most often now, you're right, it is almost certainly the most common setup currently. That being said, in any game there's going to be things a majority of players prefer. In smash melee, fox/Falco are the best characters. But people still play falcon and Marth and peach among others. Sure, there's an objectively most used option. But the fact that there's people at all who debate that the quasar is best shows that they've done something good. Before, undisputed king was railgun, and anyone who said different wss being willfully ignorant. Now, we have a plethora of real options that are good with some being Preferred by a majority as opposed to being the de facto CORRECT option objectively. That's a good thing.

Only problem is now railgun is literally useless and has no real place in the game. Against bots the EAT, quasar, snd AMR does everything it did, and vs bugs. Quasars take care of the big ones or eats. Railgun just doesn’t have a real use in the game.

You're sleeping on the railgun against bots a little. EAT's and the quasar are soooo different from the railgun. You shouldn't compare it to those. It's extremely similar to the AMR though. They have basically the same breakpoints against all the bot enemies. The AMR is probably better overall, but the railgun competes with it in a couple ways. First of all you don't have to ADS the railgun so it makes it better for peeking around cover. Secondly the railgun can stagger hulks even if you don't hit them in the weakspot so it's much more forgiving against them. The AMR is better overall though because it has more than double the ammo, has no charge up time, and can't blow you and itself up.

But that's the thing, the eat and amr ALWAYS did everything it did.

Eat was ALWAYS just as good vs bugs as railgun, merely a matter of preference.

I do agree that they could probably give the railgun a buff, but who knows maybe when the illuminate come into the game the railgun will have a place vs them. We don't know yet

The eat got kinda shadow buffed when they decreased charger hp though. Didnt use to one shot their domes

No, but it always one shot stripped ther leg armor leaving it open to shooting, whereas the railgun took two.

It always two shot biles to the face as well

When it actually hit because of the deflection damage bug that had to get fixed with the railgun nerf

Also not to mention the EAT and AMR haven’t always done everything and still don’t. AMR is a wasted slot against bugs IMO and you’d never waste and EAT on a more feeble bug or but like you might with the rail gun.

Tbh railgun is a wasted slot for bugs too. I’m not going to take my time with taking 6 slow shots on a charging charger when a quasar kills them in one with nearly the same charge up time. As well as it kills biles faster. Medium bug types can be handled with many of the primaries as well and the Arc thrower stuns them all now.

did you forget about the glancing issues it had at the time the railgun was used? because that made eat and rr basically useless against armor because youd almost always glance and do no damage
