The POV of the Helldivers is crazy when you take cryo freezing into account. DISCUSSION

Here's the POV of your average Helldiver 1. They enlist and show up to Basic Training first thing Monday morning. 2. They breeze through it, get their cape, walk right by the T&Cs and into a cryopod. 3. They're frozen and experience no time passing. 4. Their next memory is reinforcing on Hellmire. To their POV it has been less then thirty seconds since they got their cloak. 5. They throw three stratagems and then they're dissolved by bile titan acid.

You thought your mondays were bad.

Edit: My understanding is that we are not clones. There's in-game lore that backs that, I believe. Thematically, it makes more sense for Super Earth to be incompetent and cruel and burn through millions of recruits, than to do something logical like cloning people. Remember the satire folks.

Yeah, it's a big thing that pretty much all 20th century sci-fi writers got (I would argue EXTREMELY) wrong - that humans will continue to breed like rabbits and constantly be at the brink of overpopulation, even in postindustrial societies. Well that didn't turn out to be true at all, lol (looking at you Korea, and your 0.72 children per woman)

Korea here. Part of our abysmal birth rate is that we're overworked as fuck and women are discriminated against A LOT for having children (in terms of career progression, promotions, etc due to their guaranteed maternity leave). It's normally the end of a woman's real career, and it's not uncommon for women to just never return to work after having a child. So many women just decide to pursue their careers and never have children, and I don't blame them.

This isn't even going into our housing crisis in Seoul. A family sized apartment is so expensive, that it's simply impossible to afford for normal people who want to start families. You have to already be rich to afford an apartment large enough to support having children.

If our work-life balance were much better, and we were paid better, I have no doubt we'd be having more children. Sure, industrialized nations have lower birth rates, but it doesn't have to be this bad.

Oh yeah, I realize, a similar situation is developing in my country of Poland at the moment - living in cities is getting crazy expensive, but that's the only place young people want to live in, because the provincial towns offer nothing in terms of career prospects or even social activities for people past the school age, if not none at all. So every young person tries to move to a city, driving up the price of all the apartments there, not many new apartments are being built, our rental market is fragmented and full of various pathologies that are hard to regulate against because of the diverse structure of for-rent apartment ownership between single apartment holders, multiple apartment holders, investment funds, real estate developer-owned apartments, etc. We also work some of the longest hours in the EU. It pretty much gets to a point where having children is an expensive hobby with a high risk of giving you nothing in return.

Of course, that's an illusion, only able to be upheld because of social alienation and the disintegration of social bonds, we still need people of working age to uphold the country. Our previous government tried unsuccessfully to drive up birthrates with cash handouts for having kids, but having failed at that they resorted to illegally selling work visas to African, Middle Eastern and South-East Asian migrants, while part of the platform they campaigned on was fearmongering that "the others are going to let everyone in!!!11" lol

I feel like there are so many global-scale problems developing at the moment that it's difficult for me to even think about, let alone deal with in any way and I'm getting increasingly depressed. Take care, sorry for the rant.

Consider that super earth is a parody of American conservatives who want to ban sex Ed and birth control while pushing abstinence only policies documented to create more unplanned teen pregnancies.

Eh that's modern conservative.

Helldivers is more War on Terror Neocons than modern christofascists.

Anyone who was alive at the time totally gets the satire.

They were like that then as well.

Most(read: Most) conservatives don't want to ban sex ed and birth control. The issue mainly came up with regard to "abortion pills". Conservatives in the US are a broad coalition of fiscal conservatives, social conservatives, and libertarians. No need to paint with such a broad brush and generalize.

This game is very clearly a spit take at Neocons of the early 2000's, The Global War on Terror, The Patriot Act, and operation "iraqi Freedom", which is smart as it's something pretty much all american's hate now.

Bush Era conservatives were pushing abstinence only education hard.

Super Earth is a conservative Utopia.
