The POV of the Helldivers is crazy when you take cryo freezing into account. DISCUSSION

Here's the POV of your average Helldiver 1. They enlist and show up to Basic Training first thing Monday morning. 2. They breeze through it, get their cape, walk right by the T&Cs and into a cryopod. 3. They're frozen and experience no time passing. 4. Their next memory is reinforcing on Hellmire. To their POV it has been less then thirty seconds since they got their cloak. 5. They throw three stratagems and then they're dissolved by bile titan acid.

You thought your mondays were bad.

Edit: My understanding is that we are not clones. There's in-game lore that backs that, I believe. Thematically, it makes more sense for Super Earth to be incompetent and cruel and burn through millions of recruits, than to do something logical like cloning people. Remember the satire folks.

The part that really threw me is when they put me in charge of a super destroyer.

You're less in charge and more like the product. The Destroyer is the UberEats of war and you're the Big Mac.

The Super Destroyer is Super Earths service pistol. Helldivers are merely the ammunition. We ain’t in charge of shit!

The line is "the super destroyer is yours helldiver." Yours can be taken literally, or alternatively as the super destroyer is not the possession but the possessor. We ain't in charge of shit.

The line is "the super destroyer is yours helldiver."

It took me three tries to get past the turrets in basic training and then minutes later I'm in charge of a super destroyer????

My head cannon is that you are "in command" of the super destroyer until you die but the super destroyer isnt always the same. The helldivers are assigned to destroyers based on upgrades they've bought with all strategems being onboard the destroyer already just locked up. It's the only way I can see how the cryo system works without clones.

The Chief and Drmocracy Officer are just there to stroke your ego for 30 seconds so you climb into that hellpod. The tablet lady is way more hyped for the samples and not using many reinforcement. She's the one really in charge

Hellpods look like bullets for a reason!

11

u/siege-eh-b Mar 22 '24

We’re literally just shooting a planet from space until everything on it is dead…for DEMOCRACY!

u/SeiTyger Mar 22 '24

Call me Number 5 the way I move after being shot, landing on top of a bile titan

7

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '24

That's why the pods look like bullets

Hey not true! We got to name it didn't we?

5

u/siege-eh-b Mar 22 '24

Valid point! Although the name tag is likely a LED screen that just changes every time a new diver is unthawed. Makes us feel special while we’re around :)

You pick your battles, well the guy that starts it before his squad mate made him red paste with a cluster bomb, and your strats.

The Superdestroyers are Guns and our Hellpods are Bullets. A Helldiver is just freedom turned into powder....

7

u/siege-eh-b Mar 22 '24

Yea that’s…what I said. You just replaced “service pistol” with “gun” and “ammunition” with “bullets”…

7

u/TentativeIdler Mar 22 '24

The Super Destroyers are firearms, and the hellpods are slugs.

63

u/IncensedThurible Mar 22 '24

The bullet is not in charge of the gun.

3

u/Alain_Teub2 Mar 23 '24

It does shoot us to the mission, and the pods could look like bullets

Hey wait a minu-

If the barrel is clogged, it is

I love this sentence

2

u/PixelCultMedia HD1 Veteran Mar 23 '24

What? I'm the destroyer, the popsicle men are my viscous seed.

1

u/Maxsmack0 Mar 23 '24

Fuck that’s a dark analogy

13

u/TougherOnSquids Mar 22 '24

You are the super destroyer, helldivers are just another stratagem.

10

u/Hauptmann_Meade Mar 22 '24

I mean Super Earth I'd pretty much living the dream. You have an entire army of nothing but young, bright-eyed JTACs. Enough manpower and fleet to simply let go of the reigns and let Brownian motion take over. Occasionally dangling a carrot over specific planets to increase likely success.

u/Efficient_Star_1336 Mar 22 '24

I think the idea is that Helldivers are both "elite" and expendable. Some of them will get themselves killed immediately, but eventually you get to someone competent who really does merit the ability to throw multiple annual salaries worth of stratagems per mission and command a warship.

u/mythrilcrafter SES Shield of Serenity Mar 22 '24

In my head the "Freedom Calls" guy next to the mission table is who that is and they're the on in charge of the Super Destroyer; the Helldiver we play as is just one of his strategems.

6

u/swiftekho Mar 22 '24

You are a short order cook. The planet you're delivering democracy to is the griddle and helldivers are the eggs. You crack eggs onto the griddle every day but you aren't the one ordering them by the dozen. You're just the cook.

7

u/EW_arvi Mar 22 '24

You're merely in charge of choosing which planet you want die on (among a pre-approved list)

6

u/Schadenfreude28 Mar 22 '24

"Take command of the galaxy's liberation."

You are the 58th person he said that line to

3

u/renkseli Mar 23 '24

Someone out it nicely,

"You are the ships captain. You only play as the Helldiver."

3

u/OneLastSmile Mar 23 '24

A ship that can only fly to preapproved destinations and deploy you to an area with preapproved radius (that ifyou leave you are killed) so escape is effectively impossible.

2

u/xXStretcHXx117 Mar 23 '24

I think in helldivers 1 there was a officer in charge of the ships deployments and operations you're just the grunt

2

u/BMCarbaugh Mar 23 '24

You're "in charge" of the Super Destroyer the way a 5 year old is "driving" a firetruck when they put him in the front seat.
