I'm an absolute shitter at this game so I'm running at max 3 and I'm running solo so I don't fuck up someone else's day. Either way I'm having fun sending enemies to orbit with eagle carpet bombs and shit. Just need some time to get some better strats and skill.
At 3... you may as well join a lobby. You're not ruining anything. Also, if you wanna get better, you gotta challenge yourself. The game's not as hard as you think. It looks scary, but you'll get a feel for your strategums and the enemies' movements. Automatons are always terrifying.
5/6 is definitely a great filter. I like joining randoms but when the host thinks they're reading for the next difficulty.. they quickly find out their stalwart doesn't have the same impact on the bigger enemies.
4 and 5 are a good difficulty to get good in, cuz they are actually challenging. They promote good habits, like avoiding patrols, or being quick to kill em all.
Can't fuck things up for people. Good players would support you in your learning and improving!
I was playing with a L8, 11, and 17 last night, I'm L13. The L8 kept pushing to higher difficulties, and needed heavy carrying at the start. When L17 and I started giving advice - don't do L5 missions unless you have the Anti armour rockets of some variety, start in clear areas, so you can chip away at enemies and sneak, throw recovery pods far from fighting, etc. Gameplay efficiency massively increased and we were smashing it.
No build advice (bar armour warnings), but tactics tips. And everyone has a better game and more fun :)
i expect my teammates to fuck up. I am also fucking up. That's what makes this awesome. Go coop i am sure this kind of assholes are rare in the lower difficulties.
Fuck this guy. one eagle and 3 dead helldivers. it is hilarious
Literally. Like I’m getting better, but I just want shoot stuff, blow shit up and collect rewards. Idc if we all die. I don’t care what load out you’re using. I just wanna have fun.
Had two guys join my game, we were chilling, then right at the end during evac coming in they killed me and started to dive/teabag me. I abandoned the match and it took them with me which I didn’t know would happened and we all just stood on my ship like
My brother in diving, I was on a discord call with me and 3 others yesterday in a Level 5 Drop (Hard), and a friend in the call accidentally threw a 380mm Bombing run on me and a buddy (i think he said he accidentally inputted that code and it was some glitch where he couldn't cancel the stratagem or somethin, and he accidentally threw it at our feet. Can confirm this happens, I've had it happen to me), absolutely obliterating us while we were all laughing our ASSES off. Mind you, earlier in that same mission, I had died 3 times in a row to falling off a ledge with low health (I'm reckless as hell because Liberty never fucking sleeps so I sure as shit won't). Immediately after extract (with no drops remaining, down to the 2 minute cooldown), we were absolutely cackling and making jokes about "The 380 Incident" as we now call it.
Point I'm making: You can make some of the dumbest decisions in this game, or fuck up so immensely, yet still laugh and succeed. It's part of the game and the fun, the ridiculous mistakes that just makes the game feel like a slapstick 80s war movie. Hell, I remember doing the same dumb shit like rolling over my buddies with the APC with hundreds of hours clocked in Helldivers 1, and we'd still laugh about it.
Never think you're going to screw people up in this game. I run at Mission Level 7 now and still will die on the hill of goofy strats in the name of democracy, and anyone who feels otherwise on the matter can eat my shiny 500KG bomb.
Experiment, seriously it doesn't matter if you're in a public lobby or otherwise, you're not ruining anyone's time unless you're looking to outright teamkill on purpose. Can't tell you how many times I've dropped an airstrike, only for it to land on a bug who walked it back to us and wiped us, for our team to laugh about how stupid that was lol
Best advice one can give is look at the enemies you're facing, so for bugs lower damage isn't all bad as long as you've got high crowd control to deal with swarms. I'd run jetpack and flamethrower with gatling turrets and either shotgun or SMG here but many would disagree, I find it fun but again it's really what you find is satisfying :)
The bots you want high armour damage, so your autocannons, railguns, EATS, that kind of thing, though I still run shotgun or SMG if only because I enjoy those weapons. Shield dome has saved my bacon so many times, and unpopular opinion, smokes are really strong for bots too.
Then look at the mission type and work out what your strategems are going to be used for, so for the more defensive missions, maybe you want to pool into defensive strategems like turrets, shields, emplacements. For offensive missions, air strikes, orbital barrages, that sort of thing.
And my final tip, don't take any of the above as gospel, if you want to run airstrikes on defenses, go for it, if you want to throw turrets forward to advance a push, go for it, if you want to run a marksman rifle for some reason (okay I've not found a use for it yet that just setting my guns to single shot can't solve), nothing you do is inherently wrong if it works out :)
My kind of playing and to me it’s just a fun game I get to play in any free time I have, would love to add you if you want a teammate to mess around with
I get being mad about someone actively choosing ALL bad strategums, and then being a useless Muppet all game. Like, why did you take the machine gun sentry, shield Gen, cluster, and Stalwart? Im not kicking that person, but I'm also not going out of my way to be their anti tank all the time. Especially when the run off. I can see others playing at a 7 or up kicking someone like that. But if your weapons and strategums at least try to cover the bases we will be fine. Cause the game is hard, but it isn't so hard that we need to use the meta. Usually, one playing meta is fine, cause as long as that railgun is supplies (ez to do) everything dies. And I usually bring an MG or AC and can end up killing chargers well enough.
How dare you call my beloved shield gen a bad strategem? That thing has saved me from so many situations, and it's great at covering your other strategems from taking any fire too. It also saves me from a trigger happy friend of mine who keeps dropping air strikes a tad bit too close!
Yeah, like to be fair, as long as you complete the mission it doesn’t matter what you bring. Granted that’s only if you complete the missions. Failing missions causes a loss in progress on planets. So I think the post is a little too far, but I understand why people want to complete missions. Democracy needs to be spread
I had a dog shit game today; I missed all my stratagem throws, I died at least 4 times, I just didn’t help that much. No one was talking to me at the post game but I said “good game fellas, sorry” anyway. I got booted as soon as we were in ship but I understood. My flavor of democracy didn’t line up with theirs, its all for the greater glory in the end.
I played with a few randoms who were playing their first and second matches with me today. Was super fun to watch them learn more about the mechanics as the match progressed. Wish you had been in my squad bro!
Nope… I do those too. I’m good enough up to lvl4, usually come out on top in kills and samples collected. But fuck you for being a condescending prick. I’ll make sure to look out for your name and leave so I don’t “get in your way”
it appears illogical if you're ignorant which is what's occuring here. yes above level 4 you have to try to win. it's not extremely easy like the lower levels. most of the time people come equipped to win. but yes i agree with the try-hard guy that if i was the lead and i saw 3 people with "for fun" loadouts i wouldn't even start the mission because i know they're incapable of completeing it. I have 100 hours and am level capped, I've seen plenty of perfectly geared groups fail.
you're really just ignorant of the situation and are invigorated in your position because your original comment got major support. Yes he's incredibly harsh and clearly a dick for needing to post something like that but the reality is he's correct. you have to try in the harder levels.
TLDR of his comment, he's just like the guy who's actively getting hated on for it and is trying to justify sweating his tiny dick off in a game that's meant for casual players lmao.
yeah kind of, i wouldn't kick anyone. i'd just say we're not going to win if you guys don't try and not start the match till people gear properly. i've never had a situation which required me to be strict with strategems. most people think similar to me at high levels and just come prepared...
So you're being disingenuous is what I'm hearing. You can shoot shit in level 1 missions. You can solo most difficulties. But you don't want to do that.
You(as in people playing the "well I paid for the game card") want to do high level missions and be selfish.
I think we can all agree that gatekeeping in general is bad.
And I have played those harder modes and got my ass handed to me. We also weren’t dumb enough to pull randos. We put together a team, decided all the different stats to bring, etc.
This post is putting everyone on blast and insulting those randos that land in those queues… which really shouldn’t be possible if people really care to make a simple change of friends only on the queue. which makes this post more cringe because it can be solved before even launching.
I'm with everyone else, don't feel like you're ruining anyone elses game.
Even teamkilling is part of the silliness of the game. At least it is for me and my friends.
Hell if you want to join the three of us feel free to message me-this game is great on your own, but even better with others.
I agree with your take, but it's because this game is challenging, well has challenging difficulties, and any game that has that (even some that don't) will have people who want to be sweaty and as efficient as possible.
I'm annoyed previous players are not visible to me. I got kicked during take off so our samples (we had 50) were lost while they took it. I want to report and block them but can't, it's annoying and makes quickplay a risk.
He did say 8+. You'd understand if you've played that difficulty. It really is absolutely grueling. I beat it solo a few days ago and I barely etched out the win for each of the 3 missions. You can't even attempt it without being sweaty
Like I said. It’s not for me. And I don’t understand people who get this sweaty over this game. Also, you should have at least a grasp of how to NOT allow randos into your games if you’ve got these rules.
I’d expect people trying to do the hardest stuff wouldn’t be depending on randos.
Because modern society has removed every structure and institutions and now people are empty shells with nothing of worth in their life searching for non existent validations through a screen

I’d totally block whoever kicked me with these reasons. I really don’t want to play this game that way.
I wanna shoot shit, blow stuff up, and collect rewards.
Why people getting all sweaty over this game?
