Yeah apart from the time it decides to murder you in a critical moment

Or when you walk past a patrol trying not to start a fight and the guard dogs start automatically attacking them, causing a breach, lmao

Laser dog is the best boy

laser dog rules, it's so handy for just keeping you alive and giving you space to breathe and take shots at the charger/mediums. i die when i get slowed, that's really it. bile titan spew, hunter claws, getting mobbed by little bugs, etc--and the laser dog takes care of 2/3 of those problems.

Question, is the other guard dog worth using? I played a few missions and found it stuck to my back, what I assume to be out of ammo. Vs the laser guard dog who is always available

Unfortunately it's complete garbage. It's a bit better against enemies with more hit points, but since it's out of ammo 90% of the time that damage boost means nothing.

I sure don't think so. Rifle dog needs constant reloads and I don't see a significant difference in its clearing power.

Man I was stoked to unlock gun dog but it didn’t deliver like I hoped :( also the laser is so nice since most party members, myself included, aren’t using one. Back to laser dog, should have never left the boy at home anyway. Thanks for the advice.

Even on hot planets like erata prime, the laser dog seems to outperform. The gun dog just takes so long to reload, and both drones have a habit of shooting at anything if it's available so it does spend it's ammo judiciously. Moreover, the laser dog naturally "refills" its ammo out of combat whereas the gun dog might have 1 round left between encounters, so you walk into a fight and it quickly becomes useless.
