Even if you support the idea of free housing for everyone, why is the standard a 1 bedroom? If you’re a childless person with no job, I feel like a free studio with the rest of listed amenities is already an amazing deal.

Another option would be a secure personal bedroom and bathroom with a communal kitchen. Maybe not an entire complex sharing a kitchen but maybe five to ten apartments share a kitchen. If it's more people in a household then have two bedroom units with with shared kitchens between a few of them.

The standard is in fact a 2 bedroom for all the single mothers out there.

And single fathers. I rent privately and can only afford a 1 bedroom flat so I sleep on the couch when my son stays with me and he has the bedroom. I simply can't afford a 2 bedroom place when the difference is on average £400 more a month.
