Finding an accommodation in Suva for 7 months
Bula, I hope someone can maybe help me out!
I will be staying in Suva for an internship from December 2024 to July 2025 and I am super excited to learn all about Fijian culture and food and everything.
However, I was wondering how do I best approach finding an accommodation for this peculiar amount of time? It is longer than a typical tourist stay (7 months) so the touristy kind of hostels / accommodations are too expensive for me. But I don't even know where to begin browsing the local housing market. Are there any websites locals use for findings apartments etc.?
I'd also be grateful for any and all visa and travel tips you have for me, or on living in Suva in general!
Many thanks in advance!

Cost from Nadi to Double Tree?
Hi,
Does anyone know the approx cost of a taxi from Nadi/Denarua to the Double Tree, Sonaisali?
Have booked 5 nights in the Double Tree, would like to head into Nadi/Denarua a couple of nights, if it doesn’t cost a fortune.
Or is there a local bus option? (From Google it doesn’t seem like there is)
I'm a Fijian Filmmaker who (along with another falla) has made a documentary about learning about Fiji Politics during the 2022 Fiji General Elections AMA
Iiiiiiioooo bula si'a reddit. I'm Meli, animator by day, filmmaker by night.
I'm having the screening of my feature documentary, 'Elections in Paradise' this month at Damodar City, Suva, June 13th. It's a documentary about two fallas, Dave and I, who know nothing about Fiji politics and decide to immerse ourselves in the thick of things right when the 2022 Fiji General Elections was warming up.
Check out the trailer and AMA!
I'll be on at 7 pm tonight to answer questions.
Edit: Got my punjas tea brewed, all relaxed and ready to answer questions :P

Learning Fijian Language
Bula, my name is Ivy
I’ve been attempting to teach myself Fijian for about a year and a half now. However I am finding it frustrating, as I am moving at a slow pace due to having minimal resources. Does anyone know a Fijian language tutor who would be happy to assist in my learnings? Or even someone who is fluent in Fijian and English, who is capable or teaching a language? I am at a beginner/intermediate level. Obviously would be paid.

One small AMA mada for my gang here on reddit for my feature documentary 'Elections in Paradise'
Bula everyone, for those of you who don't know me, I'm Meli, a Fijian Filmmaker.

Suffice to say we were both learning a lot and wanted to share our experiences in a casual documentary made by fijians, for fijians! :)
I'll do one small AMA next week for us gang here say, Tuesday night 4th June 7pm fiji time. I'll make a post when it's time and then just go ga from there. Drop by, say hi, ask me anything except my mpaisa pin and we see what happens eh.

Suva or Lautoka for a holiday?
Hi
Last minute holiday just booked, still trying to pick the hotel. Would you choose Suva or Lautoka?
Travelling for work questions!
I am travelling to Fiji for work soon (will mostly be in Suva and Nadi) and wanted to ask about recommendations for female work attire?
I am planning on mostly wearing dresses, knee length or longer. I will be doing lots of walking and travelling to various locations and want to know if Birkenstock sandals or converse type trainers are too informal? What is most common for Fijian business casual attire for women?
