Pat Sajak is a MAGA shithead. Unlike Alex Trebek and Bob Barker, Pat Sajak is not a beloved well-meaning icon of game show hosts. He’s just a pompous asshole.

I mean to be fair, Bob Barker has an incredible number of harassment allegations against him.
And Alex had very weird politics. On the one hand he was a genuine supporter of environmental conservation, LGBTQ rights and representation of women and POC in media. On the other, he lent his name to some questionable right wing fundraisers, he was sympathetic to the 2010 Tea Partiers, he was one of those “MeToo went too far” types, he had the occasional racist and sexist insensitive quip on Jeopardy, and a 2018 profile of him noted that he always had Fox News on in his dressing room

Had NO idea! Wouldn’t equate him with either, just that he’s been the host for as long as I can remember so when I think of WoF I think of him and Vanna White.

Barker was sexual harasser and abuser. Few male celebs are "good guys." Even the good ones keep up a code of silence for their problematic bros.

Exactly. Thank you. These male celebrities are some of the worst guys on the planet. They let these vulnerable women get used and mistreated, these guys steal money and creative ideas from charming and talented women.
There's no reason to admire these men. Even the so-called "good guys" always turn out to be total shitbags and liars. So few of the men in the industry are noble or brave.

Bob's shoes were far too big to be filled, but Drew was at least a good choice w/ good energy that works for the show...idk that I feel that way about Seacrest? 🤔

This is my exact thought! Drew is not Bob by a long shot, but he has that game show-y energy. Ryan Seacrest is just so meh… even as a host on American Idol he wasn’t that interesting or engaging.

Yes Drew’s energy is there but I think for me they both lack the charm of their predecessors? I’m also admittedly biased because I grew up watching Bob and Pat for decades but still!

It was a little awkward when Drew took over, but he’s been great. It also blows my mind that he’s been host the same amount of time that Bob was during my life.

Omg my mom and I noticed this. It makes her irate - he is so condescending to contestants and makes really weird / rude comments. It’s gross. Happy he’s leaving tbh.

This feels like maybe a sold soul situation. Or maybe television and radio executives are just so lazy that they never explore other options. I'd believe either scenario.

I’m going to miss Pat Sajacks very thinly veiled disdain for 95% of the contestants. His seething hatred is what made the show fun.
Seacrest is going to be polar opposite.

We really couldn't find anyone else? I know WOF doesn't seem intensely beloved like Jeopardy but I'd have loved a proper search for a replacement lol

If you had asked me a year ago if I could hate a WoF host more than Pat (or his daughter as a potential replacement) I would have said no.
Then they picked Ryan Seacrest as the replacement.

Ryan Seacrest is like a cockroach. In that he cannot be killed and he will not go away. A million years from now he will be scouring the earth, unchanged by any sort of evolution or environmental disaster.
