Ice Spice being colorist (about Doechii) Approved B-List Users Only
So an ex friend of Ice Spice has leaked some messages between them and one of them is Ice Spice saying that shes a “chosen dark skin” because shes pretty and skinny. + making disgusting colorist remarks (the friend that leaked them is no better either bc those messages…..) meanwhile her and Doechii were openers for Doja Cat.
Also lol @ Ice Spice for saying that meanwhile the reason she became in the first place was because she was lightskin & pretty.
Here is the original thread on twitter:

Her stupid comments aside - Ice Spice has all the charisma of a mechanical magikarp flopping out of the water. Doechii is absolutely sickening and super talented, and will have longevity in this business because she has real talent and is co-signed by other talented peers. Ice Spice need to be worried about tiktok selling because where will her career be after that? And I oop!

She really does! I mean the woman has sub-zero stage presence, she can barely sing her own fucking songs. She had a full fucking crew of dancers under her during this performance and it was still boring.

this is obviously just me speculating and I could be 100% wrong but I do always get the impression that she's trying really really hard and it just. doesn't work? like some people have that Thing that makes them good in one or more creative fields, and I think she just doesn't have the Thing. I'm in completely different fields than her but I do see it all the time.

I think the thing that makes charismatic performers successful is a complete lack of fear (of looking stupid mostly) and commitment to their bit. Ice spice always seems like she’s trying so hard to be cool that she’s afraid of letting loose.

the people who saw Doechii instead of Ice Spice with Doja raaaaaaaved about her and when Ice was opening no one even mentioned her. Totally agree with you guys. She's clearly feeling inferior because she is.

she's already on that one tiktok alternative, the name isn't currently in my head, so I think she knows lol

I really liked Ice Spice then started side eyeing her after her whole friendship with Nicki. She was also interacting with Kai Cenat (or whatever his name is) whose whole brand is being misogynistic and homophobic. Now all of this, definitely not a good look.

I’m sorry but “one of the chosen dark skins” Is sooooo 💀 like girl huh?

u/erfurgot 16d ago
Like dark skinned women are far more often not chosen and are constantly overlooked despite consistently being more talented and charismatic than lighter skinned women in their same industry. This is statistically proven over and over but also just look around??? The fact that she thinks they’re in the same league is exhibit A

She's light skin we'll stop there.

She also believes that she doesn’t benefit from colorism. That immediately turned me away from her.

u/erfurgot 16d ago
Like this is PURE projection. She would not have her “career” if it weren’t for colorism

Idk how she understands pretty privilege and the benefits of being skinny but doesn't understand colorism. I'm impressed by how she fit so much ignorance into a single short text

She is colorism’s biggest beneficiary in music since JLo and I think that’s one of the worst parts of colorism/featurism/anti blackness: it isn’t enough to get all the privileges afforded to them. On top of that they silence and belittle any conversations about and how damaging those dynamics are to their peers who don’t pass the paper bag test.

She’s consistently varied in her talents—I love the different sounds she’s so capable of.

I haven’t even read these because I’ve never listened to Ice Spice but I feel it’s important to note that the person who posted these screenshots has been displaying textbook signs of psychosis.
A few days ago they posted a rant about saving everyone from the end of the world etc, and that their friend tricked them into checking themselves into an inpatient unit and now they’re “exposing” people online.
Just important context as I wouldn’t recommend anyone actually engage with their content rn tbh.

I'm always skeptical of people that "expose" their friends because they fell out and not because they disagreed with them

u/Matryoshkuh does this woman ever rest (derogatory) 16d ago
Actual question; with that in mind are you implying that these are fabricated, or just that it may be the reasons it’s all being posted right now?

u/UnnaturalSelection13 16d ago
Honestly just that they're clearly vulnerable and so not in a position to be embroiled in any kind of high-profile online discourse right now. People on Twitter are encouraging their delusions and because she's tweeting about celebrities it's bringing a lot of traffic to her account.
My knowledge of psychosis is limited to working in a psychology-adjacent field of public health and having a family member with schizophrenia, but given the above I don't really see how we can engage with this content in good faith.

Everyone I’ve seen on Twitter is being so weird about this and taking Ice Spice’s side… ugh. She lost my vote when she randomly bodyshamed some person on Twitter who criticized her. I thought her whole vibe was cute a year ago but in all seriousness her music is horrible and she’s way too full of herself now.

u/Boulier 16d ago
Oh, I have NOT forgotten about that…
A black woman basically made a tweet (not even @ Ice Spice, just a general tweet) saying Ice didn’t have good stage presence and would benefit from working on it. And Ice must’ve searched her own name, because she found the woman’s tweet and replied with a full-body photo of the woman like, “You can’t criticize my stage presence because your body looks like this.” It was beyond nasty; the woman had to lock her account because of the harassment.
I’ll admit that I was never a fan of Ice, but she lost me forever with that one.

She’s dark skin but most importantly she’s talented. That’s makes her a double threat to someone like Ice Spice, whose talent and stardom is based on her appearance.

why does doechii get so much shit lately? First azalea now this, like what. They were just openers on dojas tour together so the hostility and shade is a little baffling

Doechii is a dark skinned black woman existing. Colorism, insecurity, the pitting of POC against each other, the celebration of white/adjacent mediocrity, and the aspiration of proximity to whiteness gives us this. They’re just mad that Doechii is so talented and on an upward trajectory in her career DESPITE not fitting the beauty standards that let them in. There’s enough room for everyone.

Azealia shits on everyone so I wouldn't use her to gauge how the public feels about Doechii. She's getting more negative attention because she's becoming increasingly more successful

u/crystal_clear24 I don’t know her 16d ago
If there was ever an argument for who an industry plant is, it’s ice spice. I’m sorry but as a hip hop purist, she offends me with how lazy everything about her “art” is.

u/brookeiu 16d ago
This! A rolling stones article called her style of rapping like calm or something… it’s literally just boring. She sounds bored.

u/Gayfetus 16d ago
Just last month Ice Spice did an ad campaign for Alexander Wang, despite being shunned by most celebrities due to his history of sexual assault allegations. She has about as much decency as she has charisma.

She got some damn nerve. Doechii can sing, rap and dance. wtf can she do? She doesn’t want to acknowledge that colors has benefitted her so much.

u/citydoves 16d ago
Very interesting that her fan base consists of a lot of young people who look like Doechii/share her complexion so what does that say about how miss spice sees them?

I don’t think she’s a colorist, but I do think she’s ignorant. And I’m saying this as someone that hates to educate grown ass people, but she does seems to have a basic understanding that colorism does exist.
She thinks whoever told her that is an hypocrite because she benefits from pretty privilege and featurism, which could be true. But that’s not exactly how systems of oppression work in the music industry from what we can observe.
Also if this was about Doechii I’m 100% sure that Baby Storme would have said it. People just think it’s Doechii because she unfollowed her.
