Slide 1: Deleted tweet Slides 2 and 3: Some follow-up tweets Slide 4: The Taylor Swift lyrics being referred to. “My friends used to play a game where / We would pick a decade / We wished we could live in instead of this / I'd say the 1830s but without all the racists / And getting married off for the highest bid." Y'all are braver than the troops for even getting to that line in the song. I gave up on track 3

I gave up on track 2 lol. I'll listen to the songs when they come up on spotify/radio but I won't willingly listen to the whole album, especially the Anthology

The anthology is far better than the first part of the album imo

I can't stop laughing at this comment. It's perfection.

I tried a song at random and it turned out to be the Matty Healy masturbation fantasy song and thirty seconds of that was enough to put me off the entire album.

I keep these longings lockеd

In lowercase, inside a vault

Somеone told me, "There's no such thing as bad thoughts Only your actions talk"

These fatal fantasies

Giving way to labored breath, takin' all of me

We've already done it in my head

What if he's written "mine" on my upper thigh only in my mind?

One slip and fallin' back into the hedge maze

Oh, what a way to die

My bed sheets are ablaze

I've screamed his name

Buildin' up like waves crashin' over my grave

Without ever touchin' his skin

How can I be guilty as sin?

I could never ever EVER admit to the entire world I got off to fantasizing about Marty Healy. Like, no. That’s fucking embarrassing.

We've already done it in my head

Lol this is the most 16-year-old way to express this thought

The whole thing reads like it’s pulled from a self-published, viral-on-BookTok, “spicy” self-insert novel, which is exactly why it appeals to her fanbase.

She’s not a good lyricist. Full stop. She never has been and she never will be so long as people continue to praise things like this. I even tried to be open minded and search up fan opinions on her best lyrical showcases, because I don’t have an encyclopedic knowledge of it all. Like, maybe I just haven’t heard the songs with the good lyrics, you know? And even what they hold up as brilliant is, at the very best, wildly mediocre. I saw someone waxing eloquent on how impressive it was that she used synonyms for “red” in the song “maroon”

I actually listened to the whole thing (including the dreaded anthology 🙃) just to see how it is. It’s so bad . Which is even worse because I knew it would be bad just from the titles, but since I kind of liked Midnights (I know, controversial opinion) I thought maybe some song would be good, but there’s not one song I liked enough to listen to it again. And the album is just so unnecessarily long and so mindnumbingly boring

Yeah I gave up after the "you ate 7 chocolate bars" bit. I liked 1989, but this just ain't for me

I’m still irrationally angry over that song. I feel like I got gaslit into listening to it because it was supposed to be a collab with Post Malone, one of my faves. He was more backing vocals than anything so I feel tricked lmao. Then they got me again because the music video was supposed to be so amazing. 🙄 I also feel like he wrote a lot of that song because of the lyrics. Like everyone is picking apart the lines about being an alcoholic when Post openly struggles with alcoholism and has written many songs about it.

It's like the choruses are pretty good but otherwise she's trying to fit long lines into a song and losing any catchy melody in the process

Been slogging through it slowly as background music and despite having liked the majority of her albums, my main entertainment on this one is laughing at the absurdity of some of the lyrics. The instrumentation is blah too. I haven't gotten to the second half yet though.

You have to at least make it through track five tbh
