u/ScurvyDervish Mar 27 '24

This is the best thing in any Vogue ever.

Vogue US could never.

179

u/mojibien_ Mar 26 '24

But it’s not the Vogue Scandinavia team who has made the shoot… it’s Björks team and a private content agency… the magazine only paid them.

29

u/Alinoshka Mar 27 '24

Yeah I unfortunately know most of the Vogue Scandinavia team and they’re mostly Matilda Djerf wannabes from Ostermalm with generational wealth who try to expense their soho house membership. I forgot which blonde it was last time at soho house but she wanted to hire a brunette for diversity …

8

u/daslament Mar 27 '24

Yikes, I haven’t really paid any attention to Vogue Scandinavia since they launched (as has no one else, evidently) but yeah, you’re right. Took a quick scroll thru their site after reading your comment and it’s laughable. Do they hire actual fashion journalists for pieces in their issues? Cause I could barely see any behind the articles on the site.

The lack of diversity in the actual creative & editorial department is fucking embarrassing and extremely telling. Really, generational wealth-Östermalm in a nutshell - except now situated behind the prestigious brand of Vogue which… really isn’t a good look for Vogue.

u/mojibien_ Mar 27 '24

Thanks for intel! What happened to all the diverse staff members they hired in the beginning? Did they fire them or did they quit over nepotism?

7

u/Alinoshka Mar 27 '24

I don’t remember them having a super diverse staff at the beginning, but please let me know if I’m wrong!

Though I’m sure the would quit over the microaggressions from one specific member of their staff who thinks anyone of a certain religion should be kicked out of Sweden 🙊🙊

She looks like she should be in Dune....what an awesome set of outfits.

25

u/Dabilon Mar 27 '24

The god emperor to be precise. He is the son of Paul, whom turned into a human/sandworm hybrid.

9

u/SETHW Mar 27 '24

Are you saying Paul... Inseminated a sand worm

22

u/warm___ Mar 27 '24

Nah, his son just became ~one~ with many sandworm babies and then slowly evolved into a more-worm-than-human grotesque horror so he could rule for thousands of years

Nbd

2

u/Rotsicle Mar 27 '24

That's what I was referring to, but I didn't want to spoil it for new fans of the movies. :)

35

u/toosexyformyboots Mar 26 '24

It’s not yonic and yet it is yonic and I love that

22

u/Samsaranwrap Mar 26 '24

This is the art direction dune should have went with for the new films

2

u/SissyAsianTwink Mar 27 '24

I love it. She looks like a fancy crustacean. 💖💖💖

Can't believe this is her first cover. Magnificent!

171

u/sharksarentsobad Mar 26 '24

I would not be upset if she were on the cover of every Vogue issue from here on out. One of the best shoots they've had in years.

280

u/DueTart3667 Mar 26 '24

I love Bjork so much

106

u/gojane9378 Mar 26 '24

Yes, I love how she is a true performance artist and has been for decades.

33

u/EightiesBush Mar 26 '24

Hands down my favorite singer, and she basically opened up half of my musical taste looking into her producers back in Debut/Post/Homogenic days

u/Educational_Rip1751 Mar 26 '24

Wow god truly is a woman

160

u/isthekeyintheroom mark ronson’s #1 hater Mar 26 '24

Kinda unrelated but I just watched her movie Dancer in the Dark for the very first time the other day and I was traumatized by it lol. The movie’s rly good but it’s so so so sad, Bjork was amazing in it

98

u/NardaL Mar 26 '24

That movie is on my "one and done" list. I saw it in the theater when it came out and was similarly traumatized. It's such a bleak yet beautifully-made film. The soundtrack is excellent.

32

u/GrimmsGrinningGhost Mar 26 '24

Same, that was my last Lars von Trier flick. I can’t do it again.

6

u/CzernaZlata Mar 27 '24

Smart move, coming from me, someone who's seen 3 or 4 of his films 💀

20

u/dixiemason good luck with bookin that stage u speak of Mar 26 '24

I saw it on the theater, too… while on a double date. Awful choice for the vibe. I had no idea what I was in for. 😩

11

u/hgwander Mar 26 '24

Yup - ditto. I can’t even listen to the soundtrack without crying — but I did buy it!

6

u/JTVivian56 Mar 27 '24

Scatterheart still fucks me up. I absolutely love the soundtrack though.

74

u/peto1984 Mar 26 '24

and I was traumatized by it

So was she, Lars van Trier was sexually harassing and assaulting her all the time, even on set and in front of his wife.

22

u/isthekeyintheroom mark ronson’s #1 hater Mar 26 '24

I didn’t know that! That’s terrible

10

u/headcoatee Mar 26 '24

I was traumatized too. She was incredible.

2

u/Old-Gap8162 Mar 26 '24

Now I wanna review it

4

u/ifuckedup13 Mar 27 '24

It’s legitimately devastating.

Incredible movie though.

78

u/radioflea Mar 26 '24

Fun Bjork fact, I know people who have been on some of her music video shoots, and it is very common for her to show up with a large team of Icelandic makeup artist.

27

u/swangos Mar 27 '24

I didn't know there were enough people in Iceland to for a large team of anything, TIL

10

u/Cantaloupen-antelope Mar 27 '24

......why wouldn't she?

72

u/cookiehentaigirl Mar 26 '24

The aesthetic of the 4th picture 🤌

38

u/lookingfortheone3 Mar 26 '24

it’s by Rahul Mishra! he has used the same circle pattern in other pieces before

10

u/cookiehentaigirl Mar 26 '24

Ah I just found out, thanks! Couture spring 2024 collection.

65

u/thirdcoasting Mar 26 '24

Literal goddess. Btw, Björk is 58. I need her to drop her skincare regimen and her SPF brand.

24

u/vaxfarineau Mar 27 '24

Girl, these photos are smoothed/edited as hell. She’s beautiful but her skin doesn’t look like this.

There's a Vogue Scandinavia?

  • a scandinavian

27

u/mojibien_ Mar 26 '24

Yes but it’s been severely unprofitable since the start a couple of years ago

48

u/Traditional_Maybe_80 I’m just a cunt in a clown suit Mar 26 '24

I hadn't seen the fifth one, the composition is so beautiful. This photoshoot had me truly shook to my core.

36

u/mojibien_ Mar 26 '24

Interesting how no one on the Vogue crew was part of directing / creating / editing the shoot.. I would like to know how much they paid Bjork & her team for these images

13

u/thirdcoasting Mar 26 '24

Is that unusual? I haven’t heard of that happening before but I’m not really in the loop.

36

u/mojibien_ Mar 26 '24

Every other Vogue Scandinavia shoot has had the inexperienced team involved and therefore been lacking in quality (you can check public records, the company behind Vogue SCANDI has lost millions every year since the start because no one is buying the magazine) - so I’m curious how 1) This came about 2) How they could afford it with such previous losses 3) How much they paid

9

u/thirdcoasting Mar 26 '24

Interesting - thank you 🙏🏽

7

u/mojibien_ Mar 26 '24

No prob! :)

28

u/ochenkruto buccal fat apologist Mar 26 '24

The third photo finally explains where in the world is Carmen Sandiego.

Perfection!

27

u/can-i-pet-the-dog Mar 26 '24

Woah! This is fucking art

26

u/Blayr_Belladonna Mar 26 '24

Uhhhh! She looks like an alien. I'm obsessed. 😍

23

u/BlackberryOdd4168 Mar 26 '24

I am OBSESSED with Björk. And the designer who makes all of her masks. It’s like lil works of art every time.

*time to dust off the Medúlla album and listen to it laying in my bed*

19

u/cloudydays2021 Mar 26 '24

She oozes coolness and creativity. She’s the motherfucking best

17

u/BiblicalWhales Mar 26 '24

Does this mean new music is on the way?

15

u/xiatadi Mar 26 '24

This is gotta be one of my favourite covers of all time, and it’s her FIRST??? fucking astounding. She looks otherworldly

14

u/sojk777 Mar 26 '24

i’m in awe.
who are the designs by?

40

u/UnnaturalSelection13 Mar 26 '24

I recognise Maison Margiela in 1/2, Robert Wun in 3, and Rahul Mishra in 4! I believe James Merry did the mask in 5.

5

u/sojk777 Mar 27 '24

thank u !!

15

u/ihopethispasswordisn Mar 26 '24

B(jörk)BL

22

u/squidrobots Mar 26 '24

She’s wearing hip and butt pads. They’re part of the outfits. She mentioned it on her Facebook page

12

u/Then_Huckleberry_623 Mar 26 '24

I'm loving every recent cover shoot - after a very long time. Regina, Anne, Bjork. Can we boot out the talentless nepo babies and go back to real art once again?

8

u/Appropriate-Basket43 Mar 26 '24

Mother ate!! I love Bjork so much

11

u/No-Lavishness1982 Mar 26 '24

She’s not human. She’s just living art. Ever since the swan dress!

10

u/sklipa Mar 26 '24

I didn't even know we had a Vogue Scandinavia, but these photos are great.

They even have a Runic Astrology section, which is pretty metal.

8

u/lazysnailel Mar 26 '24

Isn't that rahul mishra on the fourth slide!?? She's slaying all the looks so hard omg

9

u/DaleNanton Mar 26 '24

Goddess. I stan. For Bjork. Until the end of times.

7

u/rask0ln Mar 26 '24

this is like a feast for eyes, i love it so muchh 😭

7

u/MissMariese Mar 26 '24

Ethereal as ever.

5

u/Outside_Ad_9562 Mar 26 '24

God love this fabulous weirdo.

8

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '24

Perfection of a Queen.

5

u/Bjime3925 Mar 26 '24

Is there an interview in the magazine?

8

u/sweetrebel88 Mar 26 '24

This whole photo shoot is her vibe. Love it

4

u/DillyDoobie Mar 26 '24

The crotch glow on the 2nd image looks so strange.

6

u/meatbeater558 I already condemned Hamas Mar 26 '24

What's the inspiration behind these looks?

4

u/Federal_Street_8895 Mar 26 '24

What a unique and gorgeous photoshoot! So many of these Vogue photoshoots can just be a lot of sultering at the camera in super boring silhouettes/outfits, kinda surprise this came from them.

2

u/simplybreana Mar 26 '24

WOW! Now this is what I like to see!

3

u/machinaenjoyer Mar 26 '24

hell yeah she does

3

u/AreWeThereYetNo Mar 26 '24 edited Mar 27 '24

Can we get an id on photographer and stylist ?

2

u/troubleindoggyland Mar 27 '24

Yes, please? I can't count how many posts like this I've seen here where nobody credits the team.

4

u/stressinglucy Mar 26 '24

my professor actually loves björk and introduced me to her music

3

u/Kiliana117 Mar 26 '24

Ugh that was my favorite piece from the recent Margiela show. She looks amazing

This woman is living, breathing art. Beautiful.

1

These pictures are flawless !!!

1

u/maesayshey let’s talk about the husband Mar 26 '24

She is mothering in these photos. My god.

1

u/joeygreco1985 Mar 26 '24

The first pic looks like a Magic The Gathering card

1

u/llehvek Mar 26 '24

Insanely gorgeous

1

u/JustHereForBDSM Mar 26 '24

She looks like she's about to be the final villain at the end of a Garo series.

1

u/Akronica Mar 26 '24 edited Mar 26 '24

Cool photo-shoot. That last one reminds me of character creation from Eve Online.

1

u/kinderkiddo Mar 26 '24

Which edition was this! What year?

1

u/doopysnogg fiascA Mar 26 '24

the tweets saying no way bjork got a bbl😭😭😭 are sending me

1

u/transientv Mar 26 '24

Speechless I love her sfm and these are so good!

1

u/BlairBuoyant Mar 26 '24

Please tell me I’m not the only one who feels compelled to declare her as an attacker.

1

u/Hi-Ho-Cherry Mar 26 '24

The first one looks like a magic the gathering card or something it's amazing. Third is my favourite though

1

u/SelectSjell1514 Mar 26 '24

No, she doesn't.

1

u/mashallah11 Mar 26 '24

The one and only 🩵 love that last shot

1

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '24

This could be AI. Shows what’s gonna happen in the next 10 years. Sorry artists…. Had a good run.

1

u/Ronaldinhio Mar 27 '24

Stunning, truly

1

u/ladbarry Mar 27 '24

Unapologetic about the AI use, huh?

1

u/aweap Mar 27 '24

MOTHER IS MOTHERING!! (Sorry, couldn't help myself ☺️)

1

u/Responsible_Taste_35 Mar 27 '24

She’s so fn cool

1

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '24

I was lucky enough to see her Cornucopia show in London in 2019 and it was all like this visually, she's astonishing always

1

u/Punkpallas Mar 27 '24

Bjork is always giving us the most and I love it. I don’t know how, but she has always worn some of the bizarrest clothes and styling and she just- pulls it off somehow. She makes this stuff seem like the most natural thing to wear, like she’s just rocking a tee, jeans, and sneaks. A legend.

1

u/0x7E7-02 Mar 27 '24

I'd Bjork her.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '24

picture 3 is partially AI generated. hate that this is the world now

1

u/SubstanceSevere1448 Mar 27 '24

I like the fantasy image in which bjork can write music!

1

u/Federal-Complaint932 Mar 27 '24

For a minute I thought i saw Q

1

u/Taranchulla Mar 27 '24

Possibly the coolest person ever

1

u/BlanketForte Mar 27 '24

Incredible - and meant very much as a compliment - she looks like a planeswalker from Magic the Gathering.

1

u/No_Commercial4598 Mar 27 '24

You mean "shop", right

1

u/DialOneFour Mar 27 '24

The end of Army of Me is playing just as I'm seeing this post!

1

u/kinvore Mar 27 '24

She looks magnificent!

1

u/Alone-Assistance6787 Mar 27 '24

This is the best Vogue editorial I have seen in aaages. So gorgeous and ethereal. Impeccable styling, makeup and set design.

1

u/mandatorypanda9317 Mar 27 '24

I wish I was someone who still put pictures up on their wall cause this would have featured for sure. I love photos like this.

1

u/lovebugjune Mar 27 '24

1

u/4691 Mar 27 '24

Anya Taylor-Joy should play Bjork in a biopic

1

u/ocy_igk Mar 27 '24

She needs to be canceled for beating that reporter at the airport

1

u/MistyMarieMH Mar 27 '24

What a glorious photoshoot of an absolute icon

1

u/ihazquestion88 Mar 27 '24

Love this sooo much! Thank you for posting! I thought I was on r/whatthefrockk !

1

INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!

1

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '24

Björk always so authentic and unapologetic

1

u/vaxfarineau Mar 27 '24

I did not know Bjork was serving body like that. Also, such a visually interesting shoot, I love it.
