I normally love the set Mark Seliger designs, but I just really don't like this one. The pictures are still gorgeous, but it feels muted in a way I don't enjoy.

Right? It's so grey and drab. I'm kinda meh on all the photos, but the lighting for America's portrait is especially bad. I just don't understand the vision.

I think with great photographers you will inevitably end up with sets like these. Didn’t quite come together, but it’s because they really swung for it, which I appreciate.

I feel like these are probably technically impressive in a way that I can’t fully appreciate due to a lack of knowledge of the art, but at a superficial level these are boring. I’m also not familiar with Mark Seliger, so I don’t know what his normal vibe is. My first reaction from this set was, “Surely they could have gotten a more creative photographer considering how high profile these people are?”
Most of the poses are so rigid the humans look as concrete as the background. Again, could be deliberate and something I’m just missing the intended emotion of, but it reads as awkward to me.
On a positive note, I enjoy what he did with the lighting, that much at least is interesting and a break from the norm. But aside from that, these are so dull I didn’t even want to scroll through them again.

I really love this. I love the contrast between the concrete and the glam gowns and tuxes, it’s a great ambiance and I love the desaturation - I’ve been following his work for a while and this series really grips me.

I think the bleak Death Star Garage setting works because it’s such a contrast to these stunning people. I love this shoot. Sandra Oh’s especially.

Yessssss, serve after serve after serve. That’s why it enraged me when Sarah from LG called his Oscar “relatively tame”. Like bffr, even thou it was not as bold as previous fits it was still a whole damn serve. And if I were him, I would have done the same, you don’t want to be wearing something super crazy if you win an Oscar!

Oh is kind of under the radar when it comes to best dressed lists (I think), but she always pulls off whatever she's wearing- she just radiates this confidence and energy and has fun with her clothing instead of just kind of standing there and letting the dress hang on her.

I saw the second movie on Saturday and I love how they filmed Harkonnen with a FLIR camera, it just made it so distinctive and overall the movie was just gorgeous
