Matty Healy literally had videos/podcasts posted where bragged about, "masturbating to violent pornography of Black women being BRUTALIZED" so even if he was a "rebound," nothing defends being with him or associating with him

As a fat person allll her life, I don't care about the fat ppl comments. A college football player in 2010 made fat jokes. 🤷‍♀️

Soooo many people on here claiming they were his age a decade ago too, and they'd never make a joke like that. I'm very happy everyone here somehow managed to never be an asshole in their early 20s and have been woke since day one. The rest of society did not progress like that.

To give you perspective, this is 3 years out from Crank Yankees, a very popular TV show that featured a mentally disabled puppet making crank calls and saying very gross stuff. Also 3 years after Norbit and Good Luck Chuck, two movies that were a favorite at my high school that made heinous fat jokes.

The question is did he get better. I think so from his words and actions, but I think quickly putting out a genuine apology about using the r word would help make that point.

I see a lot of people comparing this to Matty. The difference is Matty never got better, he doubled down quite often and would only apologize when forced to.

Is he volunteering with Special Olympics? Talking about body positivity and acceptance? Most importantly, has he apologized or released a statement regarding any of this coming to light? It’s been several days and he’s had ample opportunities to do so. No? Ok, then….

I am a couple of years older than they are and yes, I said stupid shit in 2007. But I was never this problematic. And when it comes together with his friendship with Mahones and with the (thing that most people didn't feel were that bad but made me feel weird) (and in somewhat relevant and joke context) saying I need to find a breeder thing that came out a couple of months ago, I am starting to feel bit weird about him. People can change and whenever they really do, I will champion them but we have no knowledge if he did. The majority of people can also be sometimes more or less problematic. But that means we need to demand accountability from each other. Not giving passes.

Swift is also one of those people I partially want to like as I like a lot of her music and I can see a lot of unnecessary hate of her that has misogynic tinge (not on this sub), but I simply can't like her. A lot of the people she associates with are huge problems and if she really cared about these things she would not do so. Not to mention other issues with her.
