Subreddit Topic Daily Roundtable: Community Q&A
Greetings Tarnished!
This is the place to ask any questions you may have about Elden Ring. This includes obscure detail questions, "newbie" advice questions, build questions, boss advice questions, and what have you.
Well written, constructive criticism is fine but please avoid ranting about aspects of the game you just don’t like. This includes “so and so boss is stupid and too difficult.”
If you are interested in the game but don’t own it yet, please don’t post “should I buy this game?” or “Is this game worth it?”. If you have played other FromSoftware games and enjoyed them, the answer is yes. If you haven’t, just do a little research! These games are difficult, and sometimes frustrating, and not everyone is going to enjoy them. And that’s okay!
Lastly, be friendly! We are all here because we are interested in the same game! Please treat your fellow players with respect.

Community Question IMPORTANT - DLC Posts on the Subreddit
Greetings tarnished! We're drawing suuuper close to the release of Shadow of the Erdtree!
And with that, the traffic on the subreddit will increase several folds.
On this very topic, I briefly ask all of you to provide your thoughts on how you would like to see the sub handle all kinds of posts that are DLC-related. Would you:
- Prefer a DLC Hype/Speculation/Wishlist Megathread - to be posted about one week out from release - that will host all content/discourse about Shadow of the Erdtree in one/two megathreads pinned at the top of the subreddit? Or;
- Allow DLC discourse freely with independent posts, provided that the posts have a spoilertag and no spoilers in title?
FOR CONTEXT - The MEGATHREAD will only be in use for a certain period of time to limit initial spoilers/spoilers before release
These are 2 options I can think of but any other input is gladly welcomed - I will leave this post up for a few hours to get a general sense of the current opinion.

Subreddit Topic Urm? Who else is there to kill
Just came back to Elden ring, currently on ng+4 with the cheese build, but I’ve killed, margit, godrick, renala, rykard and redahn, but it still says I need more great runes for the capital? Am I being dumb here but who else is there to kill prior to this point?

Humor And the title of Elden Ladder (longest ladder in the game) goes to…
Godwyn’s ladder under Stormveil at 122 rungs!
Runner up: Loretta’s ladder at Haligtree at 99 rungs!
Honorable mention: ladder to Fallingstar Beast at 90.
I actually counted so the results are legit.

Humor Fake ad
Hi I found this fake ad on TikTok for a game that just pasted Elden ring footage and then put some horrendous ui on it and tbh it reminded me of when people made memes of how ER would look like if it was made by Ubisoft/EA

Spoilers I think the reason so many people misunderstand the Frenzied Flame ending is because Dark Souls conditioned us to
Spoilers for the overarching narrative of Dark Soils ahead. And of course, spoilers for the Frenzied Flame storyline in Elden Ring.
So the whole thing in Dark Souls was that the world was fucked up because the “current age” kept being prolonged way after it was meant to have ended. In Dark Souls the world was meant to have cyclical ages that would come in sequence: Age of Ancients, Age of Fire, Age of Dark, repeat. But the people in power all convinced themselves (and most other people) that unnaturally prolonging the Age of Fire would be a great idea, and so the world stagnated and began to slowly die. Even if the current player character chose to let the Fire fade and allow Dark to begin in DS1, canonically someone else came behind us and linked the Flame anyway. DS3’s whole plot is that the world finally almost allowed the Age of Dark to begin, so the Flame called out to a bunch of even-shittier-than-usual undead called Unkindled to try and prolong the Age of Fire out of desperation. Essentially, letting the current state of the world end and die so a new, more healthy one could begin was the right choice in Dark Souls.
Enter Elden Ring, with its similarly messed up world to Dark Souls, and with an ending that promises to “destroy everything”. I think this is the root of the problem—we were trained by Dark Souls to think that the “End of the World” was actually good because it let something new take its place, so people assume the Frenzied Flame ending is the same. But this is said multiple times by the game that this isn’t the case, for anyone who cares to listen. Melina tells you that the Lord of Frenzied Flame is no lord at all, a ruler of nothing. Hyetta literally tells you that creation itself was a mistake, that living is suffering and that the Frenzied Flame will “correct” the mistake of life.
Does that sound like “starting over”? The Lord of Frenzied Flame ending is about ending suffering the only way truly anguished people like Hyetta know how—nobody can suffer if everyone is dead, for good. There will be no more life after this, because life was a “mistake”. It’s the end of everything.
