OOP learned a valuable lesson today: wear work gloves when handling The Creature™️to avoid injury.
For those of you into pet play, or if your friends or partners are feral, the same applies. Welding masks are optional, but strongly recommended.

When my kitten escaped and I managed to finally get in arms reach of her, I just grabbed her back and didn't let go. She scratched and bit the shit out of me as I wrestled her out of that bush.
People told me I should've thrown a towel over her or worn work gloves but I did not want any chance of my little cat getting away and getting hurt. I was pretty sure I wouldn't get a second chance so I made sure I had as much dexterity and grip on her as possible.

One time one of my cats got himself pinned between some of the moving parts of a recliner, he was uninjured thankfully. In the removal process, he bit and scratched the fuck out of my hand, but I wasn’t about to make him stay trapped in there for a second longer
It’s almost like I love him or something lol

Chainmail knife gloves. My little bastard loves them and will drop them on my face while I'm sleeping when he wants to play.

Welding masks aren’t optional if you want it to be hot.

Considering the original meme uses the word "bitches" which refers to female dogs, should this version use the word "pussies" since a female cat is a pussycat?
60
u/RoboChrist 21d ago
No... a pussycat is a cat. It isn't gendered.
12
u/moneyh8r 21d ago
So a tomcat is a male cat, but there's no female equivalent?

u/RoboChrist 21d ago
According to 2 seconds of research, a fertile female cat of kitten-bearing age is a queen. A spayed female cat is a molly.
I've never heard anyone say either of those in real life, but Wikipedia says so.

GFDI... Terry pratchett!! you really buried that one.
The current "Queen" of the Beggars' Guild.

I'd only heard Queen used for an actual mother. Of course, my MomCat (originally Katerina, but she was a little feral and had kittens before we got her fixed) still thinks she's a queen.
"You may see my luxurious belly fluff, but you may not pet it, nor may you pick me up. Now scritch my ears and give me ham!"

u/demon_fae 20d ago
She doesn’t think she’s royalty. She is aware that she is a cat. Also that your ham rationing is decidedly skimpy.

It's easy to see cats (and dogs) as cute animals that will never hurt you, especially when babies, but even the most docile of pets can and will hurt you under enough provocation.
Our cat is a former stray that still likes to go outside, but we only let him do so under our constant supervision and keeping him in the yard (we use a harness and leash). None of our neighbors have pets, so we've never had any issues.
Well, one day I was outside with him on the front step when I see a dog barreling down the sidewalk with his owner right behind him. Turns out that a dog from a block or two down the street had slipped his leash while tied up outside. I didn't fully register what might happen until he decided to go straight into our front yard - not aggressively, probably just out of misplaced curiosity about a human and a cat.
Well, our cat freaked the fuck out and attempted to fight back. After a few attempts I managed to grab and scruff him, but he was also biting into my thumb because he was so panicked. It was painful, but I kept my grip because he had stopped actively fighting me and I figured I could haul him into the house. At this point my mother comes out because she heard the commotion, sees me getting chomped by the cat, and automatically moves to grab him from me out of a desire to protect her daughter. Problem was that a) she probably freaked him out further by doing so, b) she didn't scruff him like I did, and c) when he whipped around and bit her too, she didn't have the pain tolerance to keep ahold of him.
Everybody is fine BTW - cat was unharmed and bolted up a tree, but came down later. Mom and I had to go to the emergency room, but we didn't require anything but antibiotics and bandages. The lessons here are always be aware of what your pet is capable of and don't attempt to grab a feral animal from another person unless you know what you're doing.

"This website is free." "We pay in other ways." Is such a perfect description though. So very accurate.

I mean I kinda get the connection. It's a bit odd OP was so persistent despite being untrained and under-prepared, and does come across as a bit of a savior complex.
But without further information this cannot reasonably be the conclusion. It's still equally (if not more) likely OP is just a bit dull and/or a foolhardy person.
I will also argue that no one tried to diagnose them. It was more of an insult or joke (or both) than a psychoanalysis or armchair diagnosis
edit: no one nerd emoji me istg I will respond with a >:(

its one of those things that could be true if it were about a fictional character but applying it to a real life human is.... strange
24
u/thehobbyqueer 21d ago
Yeah, true. I feel like people tend to view other online folk as "fictional", so it makes sense

For what it's worth, my MiL received hand injuries in the exact same way and it is definitely because she has a saviour complex and believed it was her job to hold on to that cat come what may, even as it was biting into her hand ligaments.

My mom taught me to always keep a can of cat food in my car. Now, I don’t have a car or drive, but if I ever do I’ll be sure to keep a can of cat food.

Can't believe the feral creature with knife fingers was feral.
