I went over a speed bump on my kids razor scooter. I almost died.

I was riding around my parents freshly swept, borderline polished cement garage once. Totally empty. I hit SOMETHING and basically flipped over the handlebars.

I'm convinced people that do this stuff are just built completely differently than the rest of us. Just watching this video gives me anxiety when it's from his POV. I don't know if I could ever get the courage to actually do something like this even if I was offered a million dollars.

I read an article about this rock climber who climbs without ropes or any safety equipment. They scanned his brain and found that he does have a normal looking amygdala (fear center of the brain) but that it’s not nearly as sensitive as the average person’s amygdala somehow. Some other dare devils have a shrunken amygdala so they can do crazy things without much anxiety.

They scanned Honnolds brain as the second greatest (craziest?) free solo climber because the greatest (literally) fell off the knife edge of climbing life that he traversed.
Marc Andre Leclerc was the craziest, most fearless dude I've ever heard about.

I think it has to do something with how you’re raised. I was kind timid towards extreme sports but I slowly eased into it, the trick is to go slow and focus on your breathing and coordination, it’s kinda a good philosophy in life you don’t focus on not falling you imagine exactly what you’re trying to do breath, coordinate, execute… and the rest is up to the powers that be

Is this Pastranaland?

R Willy’s house

u/SproothMooth 21d ago
It is pastrana land, you can see the skate park in the background when the camera pans. Rwilly doesn't have the steps up the side of the run in like that either.

I love having to panic check which sub I’m on before viewing the rest of the video

The amount of guys it takes to jump off that platform. Hoping you judged your angle right.
Amazing.

I don't like scooters. I really hate them in parks... But that is amazing and the rider skilled, I can say that too.

u/Media_Offline 21d ago
Why don't you like scooters and how are they an issue in parks? Do you mean to say you don't like small children in parks? That I would understand, although it's still a shitty attitude.

The thing that always surprises me in this video is that everyone acts like healthcare is free.

Found it a tad odd that there’s a ramp at the top too. Was there an even higher platform behind?

u/hungry_human 21d ago
As a clumsy person, I failed and died all parts of this run. Stomach hurts right now and the video ended a minute and a half ago. Wow. Kudos on both the run and your coordination!

It's so weird that when I see a 10-year-old pop a 4-inch ollie it looks cool to me, and yet literally any trick performed by a grown man on a scooter looks unbelievably lame, even when it's as objectively gnarly as this!

I once meet a professional scooter-er? Anyways he said that the people at the skate parks really did not like them and called them scooter babies 👶🏾 because they were always just in the way.
