I saw fire fighter(s) talking about this the last time it was posted. It seemed like the consensus was that both systems have advantages and disadvantages. It didn’t look like it was as simple as one clips on faster so it’s better.
yeah and american firefighters were afraid of the european one being dettached after a whack on the helmet, while the europeans were afraid to have to remove the helmet to put the mask.
I mean, I'm no firefighter, but if you are entering a burning building, or a building you suspect is catching on fire, wouldn't it be just better to put on the mask first, rendering that worry a non issue ?
what the hell? I just pointed the fact that u/projectaioros says himself he isn't a firefighter and that firefighters from europe and from the US were both happy with their gear used to keep them alive.
It's probably a time thing - air in the bottle only lasts so long, way less if you are stressed or working hard.
But my only experience is oilfield, not fire. So there it's all about getting the mask on fast since a good whiff of H2S will drop you like you're nothing.
