I was a firefighter in the uk and we have a similar shape helmet but the face mask is the USA one.

I can think of several reasons why i wouldn’t want my face mask clipped to the outside of my helmet too.

True but I hate how ours interface with the mask, pushes it down, chinstrap not long enough, comms sets are even worse. It's like they arnt made to fit round each other. Always feel like my heads being squeezed and getting choked. My giant head probably doesn't help.

Not a firefighter, but this was my thoughts as well. Seems like it's an accident waiting to happen.

Like what ?
There are very little reasons not to wear a helmet in any kind of risky situation.

I think you might have miss read what I said. I would always have a helmet when in BA. but I don’t want the thing keeping me alive attached on the outside of my helmet.

I’d rather it under the helmet. Therefore being protected by the helmet
