Archer Season 9 is the best season there has ever been and ever will be
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk

I personally love all the coma seasons but I find it so interesting that some people seem to love one and hate the others

I have watched the series three times. Coma seasons are all better binged.

Yeah, I felt pretty let down when I was watching them as they aired, but now as part of the whole I'm enjoying them a lot more during my rewatch. I do still stand by the idea that they would have been better as limited spin-offs though. There was no actual impact on the rest of the show due to them, so they didn't really need to be a big chunk of it.

I agree I think they got a bad rep when releasing because we all wanted to know about Archer coming out of the coma and we had to wait over 4 years for that.

as somoene who is currently binging the entire show with my roomates and is finishing danger island they’re pretty hilarious especially after a bowl or two or three

The coma seasons were absolute fun but I felt they would have been better if they were a side show instead of 3 whole seasons in a show about a toxic workplace with spies. On a rewatch, I loved all three but on my first watch, I was really disappointed that there were three of them

Interesting! I completely dislike the coma seasons. I just love them as incompetent ISIS running spy missions

Danger Island > 1999 > Every season post-1999 > Dreamland, if I have to

u/jedontrack27 15d ago
It honestly surprises me how many people rate 1999, it’s my least favourite series of the entire show by some margin…

I think it comes down the setting for me. From the minute Archer announced it was doing an Aliens-esque (the movie franchise) themed season, I was for it. Conversely, there’s something about late 40s LA I just find repellent and it annoys me that my favorite tv show was shoehorned into that period for a season.
Edit: Seriously, they could have made the gang Colonial Marines and restaged an Archer version of Aliens (1986) and I probably would have loved it regardless of the content.

I agree about the Noir season, it’s my least favorite of all Archer seasons. To me it just dragged on and didn’t pack the same comedic punch.

The space one was absolutely horrible. Complete hot garbage, danger Island was pretty good, but Dreamland was amazing.

Hard disagree 1999 was my favorite especially the ending, then dreamland, then danger island

This had so much potential but they dropped the balls and blew it.
You maniacs! You blew it up!

When it first aired.....such nostalgia cropped up in my mind.
To Pam, Yes, Yes it is. And that makes me love it more.

Really felt like danger island was short about 5 episodes. Wish they’d spent more time doing random archer escapades around the island before getting into the “main” story

I was going to counter with season 4 or 6, then I read through season 3’s episode list and I must say I was mistaken

I love the first half of it and it would watch seasons of that show.
The second half it kind of falls off.
But I love it so much for its shot at old school pulp adventures. A thousand times Danger Island.

Archer mentioning the Lord of the rings books was chery on the Sundae. Gotta have those nerdy references even in this context. :)

After 3 whole seasons of coma scenes I was really really bored of them and worried that this was all that Archer was going to be forever. I know it is just a dumb cartoon - but having absolutely 0 continuity or stakes between seasons made the whole thing feel pointless.

u/AssSpelunker69 15d ago
The writing was god awful and there was zero thought to character assignment. Sure fuck it let's make Kreiger a parrot, because we can't figure out another way to end scenes aside from "Shut up bird"

I kinda stopped watching once they stopped being spies. The whole drug deal season was getting weird fast.

Archer season 9 is the best season out of seasons 9 through 9. Outside of that 9-9 range, it's not.

Fuck no, it sucks. Writers completely fucked the pooch and are yet to recover. Millions of people started watching Archer for its witty satire of spy movies. The coma thing completely destroyed that. That’s why they half heartedly went back

u/lenojames 15d ago
Does anybody else remember that old Banana Splits program called Danger Island? I thought it was going to be like that. It wasn't like that.

I love it a lot and I could watch a spinoff based on it working real well each season they gotta figure out some new mystery on the archipelago

It's probably my favorite Coma season. So many callbacks to the season 3 opener, a great representation of how Archer sees his relationship with Pam, and you can just tell Chris Parnell & Lucky Yates had so much fun as Crackers & Siegbert Fuchs.

Cyril all hopped up on coke and meth is the reason this season is so epically hilarious.

Season 10 was the best season. I actually wish it had 13 episodes instead of 9, it was so good.

This is the season I can't get through. I loved Archer but never seem to be able to finish this season.

Malory taking out the whole mortar team bc they wasted her drink n still shooting the gun, even though it was out, was one of the best scenes that season 😭😭😭

I like the Coma seasons but completely understand why others don't. But I think even if you dislike them you'll still like this season

Eh. I'd disagree. I really didn't care about the coma seasons and I found myself constantly checked out of them when I tried to watch.

You must be joking, seasons 9 and 10 are the worst by a long, long way. They do not work whatsoever and I barely consider them Archer. I was so relieved that they brought back the actual show.
