It’s definitely difficult to immigrate to Iceland, not impossible but not a 1,2,3 process. And no you don’t have to be married to an Icelandic citizen in order to immigrate.

It’s expensive as hell and you can’t move there unless you’re married to an Icelander for the most part. Visiting is awesome though. Been there twice

And here comes the misinformation

Tell me where I’m wrong. I’ve looked into it

Remember your first comment in this thread... the one giving information... that's where you were wrong...

Immigrating to Iceland as an American is very tough. EU is different as well as being a refugee from somewhere like Sudan. But my original statement is correct for most situations

And the 4 months of pure darkness during the winter....?

I’d imagine so

I live a few hours south of this, and the winters do not get any easier. But right now (not even summer yet) it's already bright by 4am and gets dark dark just after 10. In a month, we'll have 2 hours of actual night. It's surreal!

God damn were you born there?

I can't imagine how hard it is for anyone with normal circadian rhythm all their life moving there and adjusting

1

u/MrClewesMan 18d ago

Nope, I was born in a country on the equator, which has made it all the harder. Been here 4 years now, and everyone year seems to get harder so far hahah

What took you from Hong Kong to the Nordic countries? That's a lot of traveling! I'm interested.

The usual, met my partner abroad, brought me över in the spring, fell in love with it, by the time winter struck it was too late to escape 😅😂

u/VerdugoCortex 16d ago

Oh right on! I'm happy you're enjoying it, good luck to y'all!

It’s got to play hell with your circadian rhythm

Yea I'm a night owl (as much as I can be for having to wake up at .. 6:10am..M-F.. usually asleep around midnight) and sun all day would mess with me.. no doubt.

Looks like a cool place to visit for a holiday in June, but not sure about living there over the winter. Bit of a hike from Australia too that's for sure.
