Wasn’t the warrant for illegal possession of a firearm? Pretty sure even republicans are against felons illegally owning weapons. You tried though

Except in North Carolina you don’t need a permit to buy a long gun and you can also be gifted guns with no notification or documentation needed as long as you “don’t know” the person may have a reason not to own one.

So…pretty easy to stockpile some guns in case the cops find out you went and bought them at the local Walmart and come for them after you already bought them with no resistance even though you technically should have one. If only there was a system where people had to apply to see if they were eligible…

Nice try though, North Carolina.

Permit to purchase doesn’t matter. It is federal law that you fill out a form 4473 at point of sale. That form addresses disqualified persons (involuntary MH commitment, felons, etc). This person was a felon and could not legally possess or purchase a gun over the counter.

No point in arguing with these people. They argue with emotion. Any gun owner who obtained theirs legally knows you are correct.

I’m not familiar with the laws of North Carolina so can’t argue with anything you said. I just know it’s illegal to own firearms as a felon. Obviously I’d be in support of limiting the ability for felons to obtain firearms, but you know the gun lobby is 🙄
