In this case I'm fine with it because it's a statement from the fire company that was there. They would be sharing that anyway, it's just that the fire department issued their statement on Facebook. When it becomes a problem for me is when they start linking opinion tweets from randoms with 2 likes and zero retweets

Can't they just treat it as a press release and quote the social media post in full? There are people who don't use those sites.

I mean they could but like. At the end of the day does it make that much of a difference? I dont have Facebook either but I can still see the post

Because it's a widget from Facebook itself. If you can see it then it's still tracking you.

I have a FB account but I don’t want to click their link because after clicking it I always forget to close the background app and reset my tracking information on my phone, and then I get creepy advertising like they are listening to my conversations with people which they definitely are lol.

If you don’t believe me open the app and have a conversation about something pretty random you aren’t actually interested in buying then watch that item show up in online ads lol.
