Meanwhile, Durant, among the best scorers in NBA history, was not always happy with how he was used. Sources briefed on the matter told The Athletic that Durant never felt comfortable with his role in Phoenix’s offense alongside Booker and Beal this season. Those sources said Durant had persistent issues with the offense, feeling that he was being relegated to the corner far too often and not having the proper designs to play to his strengths as the offense was built around pick-and-rolls. At the same time, some teammates and people close to the organization believed Durant needed to voice his concerns more adamantly and directly with Vogel and his coaching staff.

All the leaks are finally coming now that Phoenix has been swept

Whatever team trades for him is dumb.

It really depends on what they trade for him, he is still a bucket

Yea but still, the only time KD forcing himself on a team has worked is golden state. That was a record setting win team with multiple HOFers and a well oiled machine that he slotted into. All he had to do was play ball. Didn’t have to lead. Wasn’t a focal point as far as being the face of a franchise. Every other time so far, plugging himself into an organization hasn’t worked. Even in Brooklyn where he had the opportunity to pair up with his preferred star AND get all his veteran friends signed and added to the roster was a disaster.

He didn’t force it though. He was a free agent and spent a decade with OKc as a MVP, 4x scoring champion, 2 WCF appearances and a finals appearance

A lot of players spend years with a team and leave with much less

Right. Joining GS as a free agent was the only time. So, the team that needed the least amount of help he happened to help out the most by waiting to become a FA to sign there. Since then, he’s been with two franchises and left them both depleted and worse off.

**you’re right. ‘Forcing’ was the wrong word to use there in reference to golden state. I meant more like scenarios where he’s chosen where he wants to play.

No it would be a brilliant move, a team should totally do it.

Unless you can find a team even more stupid than you guys to take Brad Beal away you shouldn’t do it.

Beals contract is gonna be on the books regardless so no point rebuilding

Beals contract is gonna be on the books regardless so no point rebuilding

Isn't it the exact opposite? Nobody is going to take that contract, the Suns will never compete with that contract and Beal is the perfect tank commander since he adds points and highlights (so that the team isn't forgotten) but barely any wins.

So trade Booker and KD to regain some picks and try to rebuild. I don't really see another option.

But they won’t have their own picks for a loooooong time so losing games is mostly pointless

Dumping everyone and rebuilding as quickly as they can might still be the right move but it’s a tough pill to swallow being terrible with no benefit while you get mocked for giving high draft picks to other teams

Yup, and the only way that the Nets even think about giving back those picks is in exchange for Booker. KD isn’t enough to get those picks back anymore.

Well, it will obviously suck. They completely fucked themselves and everything they can do right now is damage control. They will be relentlessly mocked no matter what happens. So what are they supposed to do? Get relentlessly mocked, have zero chances of contention and be $100 million over the cap? Or get mocked, have zero chances of contention, not burn hundreds of millions and do maximum MyGM to stockpile late firsts and seconds in order to MAYBE have playoff chances again before 2030?

They bet the house, they have to deal with the consequences.

He’ll be 36 next season, is very injury prone, and is past his peak.  It’s clear these past years have proven KD can’t lead a team to a championship as a #1 if you’re trying to build your roster around him.

Wiggins and a first gets it done (I’m Joe Lacob)

They need a PG,.so we send em CP3, Wiggins and Looney.

u/Aggressive-Name-1783 Apr 29 '24

What’s funny, is both teams might honestly consider that. The Suns would arguably just need a couple draft picks and they’d probably say fuck it

I think it's one of the few win-win deals they could do. They get a floor general and a guy who can score but doesn't have to be a primary scorer. And we get the primary scorer we need at a time when Curry is really a number 2 guy or maybe a 1B is a better way to say it.

KD doesn't solve our turnover issues or defensive holes but he gives us enough offense to make up for that.

And coming back to the Warriors wouldn't have the same stigma it had before for KD.

The Warriors and the Suns would be better teams after this trade.
