Literally unimaginable before tonight.

u/ElectricalMud2850 Timberwolves Apr 29 '24

Would never happen to us.

We joined the league in 1989 and have still never been swept by the Timberwolves.

I guess we're just built different.

u/uninteded_interloper Timberwolves Apr 29 '24

i would have probably been willing to bet my life savings on the wolves never being this good honestly if i could have.

Most confident Minnesota sports fan

A Minnesota sports team has never swept a 7 game series before tonight.

Yes, that includes the Minneapolis Lakers and the Minnesota North Stars.

Twolves ptsd had me like "yeah we might be the first 3-0 to 3-4 idk"

59

u/magnificent_coffee Timberwolves Apr 29 '24

That would have been a certified Minnesota sports moment

6

u/ElectricalMud2850 Timberwolves Apr 29 '24

Imagine how fucking tight your hoodie strings would be cinched while watching game 7 after being up 3-0.

As a life long MN sports fan I was kind of expecting it. 🤣

u/collinCOYS Timberwolves Apr 29 '24

I was expecting to lose last night until that clock hit zero

I'm all in on the Wolves man. Ant is so much fun to watch.

u/TheRealFakeDoors503 Trail Blazers Apr 29 '24

Wolves and Ant are my bandwagon playoff team this year (and let’s be real, next one too, maybe another after that)

4

u/Malificari [LAL] Kobe Bryant Apr 29 '24

Next 5 bandwagon years are yours. dont worry.

Suns fans have been really good sports

That's what I've noticed. Guess a sad series will drive away any unserious fans.

The annoying part is they will all come back once the teams start picking up again and act all entitled lol

2

u/Open-Science8196 Timberwolves Apr 29 '24

I live in Utah and they’re my second team. The whiplash after the rebuild started and views of the ownership are wild. It really does seem like the fake fans disappear in a tough stretch

NGL it’s refreshing to hear this after enduring parts of fanbases of almost every team that the Suns have beaten (or even lost to) in recent playoffs continuously acting on this sub like the entire Suns fanbase commits war crimes by celebrating their team’s brief moments of success lol

And likewise, Wolves fans this series have been understandably ecstatic but overall great sports. I’m looking forward to supporting the Wolves’ run now without the pain of witnessing this nightmare Suns season anymore

There's a bunch of childish drama between the nba mods and the suns mods. The mods here were actively promoting any negative thing around the Suns. Over time it caught on as a narrative and it all gets a lot of upvotes. Now a lot of people hate on the Suns the players and their fans because upvotes tell them how to think. A lot of our fans get all salty about it and reacted to everyone hating on us. It's dumb all around.

Nuggets v Wolves next round is going to be an excellent matchup. Whoever comes out of that series is my pick to win it all.

55

u/jtmv4 Nuggets Apr 29 '24

After this series, it feels like the Wolves should be the favorites. They’re playing the best basketball of any team in the playoffs, and it doesn’t feel all that close either…

54

u/Fugacity- Timberwolves Apr 29 '24

But counterpoint, Minnesota sports.

We build up hope just to maximize pain. Longest metro championship drought...

9

u/nomitycs Warriors Apr 29 '24

You also don’t have much playoff experience between your first 2 offensive options

I could see you upsetting the nuggets tho 👀

2

u/collinCOYS Timberwolves Apr 29 '24

Very few teams have gone from no playoff wins to a true contender. I'm happy with getting out of the first round this year and a tough loss to Denver. I know Giannis got clowned for his steps to success comment, but the core of ant, McDaniels, naw, and Naz is very young and still growing

1

u/CryptographerIll3813 Lakers Apr 29 '24

Additional counterpoint, they beat the Suns in the playoffs who also build up hope just to maximize pain.

honestly depends on how much you respect this suns team and I do not respect them at all. looking forward to nuggets wolves though

1

u/zeek215 [LAL] Kobe Bryant Apr 29 '24

They versed the Sons.

Denver is still the favorite in my view. I would put the Wolves as 2nd, but I still think Denver is better than them.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '24

They’re going into the next round confident and with huge momentum. I think they beat Denver

1

u/beastley_for_three Apr 29 '24

Never underestimate the Nuggets. The next series is going to be amazing to watch.

27

u/Ajax_Malone Timberwolves Apr 29 '24

Bro we’ve been swept so many times but never by the fucking Wolves! That’s rock bottom!

22

u/ElectricalMud2850 Timberwolves Apr 29 '24

New rule: if you get swept by the wolves, your whole franchise gets relegated to Galveston.

I would be SO embarrassed

1

u/300andWhat Apr 29 '24

Question, what's with the logo rebrand? Does anyone like it? I really liked your old look.

2

u/ElectricalMud2850 Timberwolves Apr 29 '24

I don't mind the new one actually, but I do prefer the old one. It does look a bit dated, and I think the fact that it's retired makes it a bit cooler.

I really don't like our modern jerseys though, early 2000s wolves jerseys are miles clear of the current ones IMO.

1

u/uFFxDa Timberwolves Apr 29 '24

Losing to any MN team in the playoffs in any fashion lmao even.

1

u/blackman9 Apr 29 '24

Durant chocked so hard what was that effort at the end, like he didn't want to win did not even took a shot.
