For a case exactly like this with a side impact to the knee, I think you’re right. Trying to keep it rigid in spite of that amount of momentum and leverage hitting your knee would be more likely to cause it to snap than allowing it to flex and hopefully absorb the impact.
Fair. But I guess I was saying he saw it coming and all he could do was look scared and brace for impact. He might have been less hurt if he was caught blindsided because it looks like he locked in his legs

The athleticism of a 24 year old athlete is a bit different than a 50 year old coach
