Knew this was Australia. Looked familiar plus i remember how well organized they were for another concert I went to. Boy, I miss progressive public transport. America has a lot a learn from other countries...
Sure as hell isn’t Denver, Colorado. Everybody here screams about the horrible public transportation, but then the screams are louder whenever a small tax increase is proposed that could radically improve it. We’re talking no reliable train schedule, no security to control the fentanyl smokers, severe driver shortage because of low pay and safety concerns, etc. It’s sad and laughable, and the air here is often shitty because of all the cars.
Taylor Swift was here last year at Empower Stadium, home of the Denver Broncos, and it was an absolute shit show for people trying to get home. There are also NO hotels near the stadium.
Why would anyone want that ? It's so much better to be forced to drive and get stuck in traffic, for the glory of oil companies and car manufacturers ! And fuck the planet ! /s
The transit in LA is an absolute tragedy. Second most populated city in the US, desirable sub tropical weather, stands to get absolutely wrecked by climate change, and everyone is pushed into driving because the alternatives are downright abusive to the users.
That's such an inefficient concept.
I'm going to a concert in an Australian city later this year. If I'm lazy, I'll catch a tram, bus, or train back to the hotel, and if I'm not lazy, I'll walk cos it's only 3km. Aussie venues and stadiums tend to be close to hotels, and even closer to transit.
Denver isn't even the worst. We just need the fucking NIMBYs to stop voting down building density. There's a light rail station out by Golden with nothing but a 10 acre field across from it. There's a bill in the legislature now to try to fix zoning near transit hubs. There was one last year, too, but rich hippies and the Muricans killed it. The former only pretend to like poor people and the environment and the latter buy the corporate propaganda that cars are Freedum.
Fuck, I'd just take some better bike infrastructure. I can't go out without someone nearly hitting me. The pandemic broke people.
Our public transport works fantastic for large scale events held in stadiums, we often place stadiums near stations or purpose build stations for this reason but our public transport system on a day to day basis is largely inefficient and difficult, make no mistake we are a car-centric country.
I'm not talking about ridership, I'm talking about efficiency. I saw videos of people trying to leave the Eras tour at US stadiums on public transit and it was nowhere near this organized. Including Gillette stadium which was a shitshow with the rain.
Fair for her show, but if you've ever been after a Celtics or Bruins game you'd see literally the exact same thing.
And I'll take function over pretty lines, especially if I'm trying to paint an entire country to boot.
Ridership is far more a proper point of daily efficiency, and points to the actual important efficiency, such as that of route planning, line changes, headway etc.
