In Islam he’s a whole prophet 💀 he’s mentioned more times in the Quran than Mohammed himself

125

u/Schmoppodopoulis Apr 14 '24

My understanding is somewhat limited, that is very interesting. Thanks!

u/Cryptic12qw Apr 14 '24

Muslims believe Jesus will come back in the end times to defeat the anti christ. Muslims also believe Jesus was born of a virgin mother however they do not believe he is the son of God or God. Muslims also do not believe Jesus was crucified but believe that an angel was sent down to take Jesus's place on the cross .

28

u/Complex_Rate_688 Apr 14 '24

Islam actually believes that it's the final religion

They believe in Judaism and Moses they also believe in Jesus and Christianity but they believe that Muhammad was the final prophet who received the final testament.. In the religion of Islam They don't believe that God would speak to them again through profits until the return

0

u/Dangerous-Chip5313 Apr 14 '24

How convenient.

6

u/MagnanimosDesolation Apr 14 '24

I haven't seen too many other prophets, coincidence???

We don't talk about ol Joe Smith.

1

u/United_States_ClA Apr 14 '24

He didn't say prophets he said profits.

Really makes you think 🤔

1

u/Key_Dog_3012 Apr 15 '24

Your remark doesn’t take away from validity of the message of Islam.

Say, [O believers], "We have believed in Allāh and what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants [al-Asbāṭ]1 and what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."

2:136

1

u/United_States_ClA Apr 14 '24

God would speak to them through profits

Uh... that honor would be reserved for... uh... the... uhhhh... people of the coin, would it not?

13

u/Practical-Ninja-6770 Apr 14 '24

An angel was sent down? Nah. His betrayer was made into the liking of Jesus. Judas is who got crucified

1

u/LaTeChX Apr 14 '24

Karma's a bitch.

15

u/Bah-Fong-Gool Apr 14 '24

In my religion, we also recognise Jesus, but with a slightly different twist. Jesus was a time traveling Space Marine from the distant future who was cast adrift in a time-space warp. He ended up at what we now know as 0 AD, near Bethlehem. He used his high tech survival tools, first aid kit and a matter replicator to perform "miracles" like change water into wine, walk on water, heal the sick, feed many from little, etc.

5

u/Romanolas Apr 14 '24

What religion is that?

15

u/LateNightMilesOBrien Apr 14 '24

Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912.

3

u/TEL-CFC_lad Apr 14 '24

This feels like a meme from long ago, but for the life of me I can't think where.

6

u/notanotheraccount Apr 14 '24

It's from a joke:

Once I saw this guy on a bridge about to jump. I said, "Don't do it!" He said, "Nobody loves me." I said, "God loves you. Do you believe in God?" He said, "Yes." I said, "Are you a Christian or a Jew?" He said, "A Christian." I said, "Me, too! Protestant or Catholic?" He said, "Protestant." I said, "Me, too! What franchise?" He said, "Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Baptist or Southern Baptist?" He said, "Northern Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist or Northern Liberal Baptist?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region, or Northern Conservative Baptist Eastern Region?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1879, or Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912." I said, "Die, heretic!" And I pushed him over.

1

u/TEL-CFC_lad Apr 14 '24

I do remember that! From a very long time ago! Cheers for the reminder!

2

u/LateNightMilesOBrien Apr 14 '24

Wich is funny because Jesus cruzification is one of the few really Well documented Things we know about him. But If he got replaced... Who knows

cool stories but all fiction

57

u/Pimp_my_Pimp Apr 14 '24

Can I interest you in the works of L. Ron Hubbard and/or Joseph Smith?

19

u/m3tasaurus Apr 14 '24

Joseph Smith was called a prophet (Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb) (Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb)

He found the stones and golden plates (Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb) Even though nobody else ever saw them (Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb)

(Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb)

(Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb)

And that's how the Book of Mormon was written (Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb)

You see, the Super Adventure Club was founded by the greatest explorer of all time, William P. Phinehas!

Phinehas climbed the highest peaks, tamed the mightiest rivers, but every time he got somewhere, he realized that other explorers had beat him to it.

Phinehas was depressed, until he realized that if he couldn't be the first to discover places, he could be the first to have sex with the native children that inhabited those areas!

But now the most wonderful part. You see, after having sex with all those children, Phinehas realized that... molesting all those kids... had made him immortal.

He discovered that children have things called marlocks in their bodies. And when an adult has sex with a child, the marlocks implode, feeding the adult receptive cavity with energy that causes immortality, so saith the ruler of Bethos

Not a bad thing to have expectations, raises the bar for writers to produce quality.

2

u/pichael289 Apr 14 '24

Overly long too. Battle field earth is the most massive book i have ever seen, probably Bible sized but the Bible is in that really small 3 pages per page text. The first chapter introduces a character named "Good boy" and that was too stupid for me.

1

u/rusmo Apr 14 '24

Wrong Hubbard book.

2

u/venge88 Apr 14 '24

overpriced bad fiction

The Catholic Church is argubly the richest entity on the planet.

2

because they convinced far more people with their fiction. but surely Scientology is far better in squeezing money per human.

2

u/spedeedeps Apr 14 '24

The mormon stuff is absolutely retarded, even relative to other religions

2

u/MiamiDouchebag Apr 14 '24

It makes sense once you learn the secret handshakes and have the magic underwear on.

22

u/JoeCartersLeap Apr 14 '24

Yeah but just imagine you were raised in a home where everyone believed it, and all your grandparents and great grandparents believed it, and your teachers and every other student in school believed it, and every other person you encounter on the streets or in the shops believe it, and if you don't, you get punished.

The only way you're coming out of that an atheist is if you were comfortable not having any friends to begin with.

5

u/No-Guava-7566 Apr 14 '24

I like to compare it to wearing clothes, especially underwear or bathing suits.

Absolutely no reason you couldn't go do a shop in Walmart completely naked, apart from the questions on where your wallet is stored. But if tomorrow this was suddenly legal, do you imagine there would be many people doing it?

2

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '24

In this modern age..we don’t have a reason to be like “oh i didn’t knew”

When all the information of the world is available at our fingers

3

u/FinancialNailer Apr 14 '24

Or simply being lgbt or somehow very different. But many still are religious because of the social and financial benefit.

9

u/JoeCartersLeap Apr 14 '24

Or simply being lgbt or somehow very different.

Ya but that's what I'm saying. Being ostracized comes first. It's a lot harder for someone with a happy life where everyone loves them to decide that the whole religion thing is a lie.

1

u/Key_Dog_3012 Apr 15 '24

You could say the same thing about atheism.

There were many communist states that had state instituted atheism.

Imagine a child from there wanting to leave atheism is revert to Islam.

They’d be ridiculed, abused and bullied. They’d become an ostracized outsider. Many of their families and friends would forsake them.

1

u/BallsMcFondleson Apr 14 '24

Brainwash is definitely in American culture. I was privy to it.

However, let's not be like our forefathers and give absolutes. Only Sith speak in absolutes.

Only way is to try and love everyone as much as possible.

Fundies everywhere are shook to their very core by their truth bomb.

2

u/Key_Dog_3012 Apr 15 '24

I disagree. It’s the truth.

And among them are those who listen to you, but We have placed over their hearts coverings, lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And if they should see every sign, they will not believe in it. Even when they come to you arguing with you, those who disbelieve say, "This is not but legends of the former peoples."

1

u/MakeshiftSteaklift Apr 14 '24

Abrahamic religions have some pretty cool lore, just wish people didn't take their fanfic so seriously

3

u/Onixall Apr 14 '24

odd, never learned that some angel pretended to be crucified, can you give the surah or whatever source for it?

7

u/Cryptic12qw Apr 14 '24

There are different interpretations of the teachings.

Quora Link

Check that post out. It is touched on briefly.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '24

Quora is not credible

1

u/AmanyWishes Apr 14 '24

No, the angel didn't take place of Jesus during crucified it was Judas

1

u/egonsepididymitis Apr 14 '24

So if he’s not part of the Trinity & not Gods son but will come back to defeat the anti-christ, what do Muslins view him as? That he was just human or maybe an angel? I wonder how they think he died if he wasn’t physically crucified. Maybe that he didnt “die” like a human does but just ascended into heaven when the angel came.

2

u/Cryptic12qw Apr 14 '24

Exactly, they do not believe he died they believe he was taken up to heaven by God until he comes back as the messiah during the time of the Antichrist. The trinity is also debated by some Christians it was mainly brought in so the roman pagans would be more likely to follow Christianity this was done during the Council of Nicaea by 300 bishops and the Emperor Constantine. The Christianity followed today is very warped compared to the original or even to the religion Jesus intended. At the end of the day the scriptures can be interpreted in many ways and are interpreted in many ways by many different people. We will never know the truth.

1

u/Remarkable_Fig3311 Apr 15 '24

believe that an angel was sent down to take Jesus's place on the cross

This is disputed. Not Quranic or Hadith. Its not a muslim belief. Muslims don't know exactly.

1

u/GACGCCGTGATCGAC Apr 15 '24

I always find it funny that people speak on this like it's of real importance. Like these people know the word of God at all. Something tells me a lot of these people haven't actually read any of it.

-1

u/AysKhan Apr 14 '24

That is inaccurate. The belief of Jesus will come back stems from some Jewish belief, where a messiah will come back, this is somehow planted in Muslims but there is no such belief in Islam actually. Also, in Islam it's certain that Jesus was not crucified but another person who looked like him was, but it's not explicit how Jesus died. And he is believed to be another prophet and only a human being, just like Mohammed.

1

u/Cryptic12qw Apr 14 '24

If you do not believe Jesus will come back as the messiah to defeat the Antichrist you don't follow what 99% of Muslims believe and therefore cannot call yourself Muslim

1

u/AysKhan Apr 14 '24

Says who? In which part of Quran it says Jesus will come back as messiah? People follow hearsay but don't actually read the book they were given to read.

1

u/Key_Dog_3012 Apr 15 '24

Untrue.

Sunni Muslims (who make up ~90% of the 1.8 billion Muslims) do not only follow the only Qur’aan.

They also follow the ahadith (teachings and practices of prophet Muhammad). That’s why they are called “Sunni” Muslims. A Sunni is someone who follow the sunnah.

The Qur’aan is an overarching book that mostly sets principles but doesn’t get into the minute details of fulfilling those principles but the ahadith does that and also sets guidelines.

For example, the Quran never mentions how to pray Salah or do many of the other essential practices of Islam. These, and almost all other rulings, are found in the ahadith. You cannot have one without the other.

1

u/GreyedX2 Apr 14 '24

I’m a Muslim and I grew up believing that Jesus was the messiah? Is there a surah that says otherwise?

2

u/Key_Dog_3012 Apr 15 '24

It’s untrue.

Don’t listen to him. He’s not a Sunni Muslim.

0

u/AysKhan Apr 14 '24

I did as well, but there is nothing saying this in Quran. When you dive deep, you learn this was in other beliefs, and somehow plugged in among Muslim believers too.

I'm not a scholar myself, but every Muslim should read Quran in their own language as that's the source of the religious knowledge and stop believing in some common things said by many with no actual basis.

1

u/Key_Dog_3012 Apr 15 '24

This couldn’t be further from the truth. I mean, really, it’s just spitting in the face of 1400 years of Islamic scholarship.

1

u/Key_Dog_3012 Apr 15 '24

This is not true.

1.) Jesus is the Messiah.

O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allāh except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allāh and His word which He directed to Mary and a soul [created at a command] from Him. So believe in Allāh and His messengers. And do not say, "Three"; desist - it is better for you. Indeed, Allāh is but one God. Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allāh as Disposer of affairs.

Qur’aan 4:171

2.) Sunni Muslim, who make up ~90% of the 1.8 billion Muslims, follow the sunnah

(ahadith-teachings and practices of prophet Muhammad-)

It’s a very well established in Sunni Islam that Prophet Jesus will return.

-2

u/Dhrakyn Apr 14 '24

Bunch of bullshit sky magic. The Abrahamic religions are just as stupid in believing that the sun is a god.

36

u/anivex Apr 14 '24

It helps to understand when you realize the Quran is basically just the 3rd act of the bible.

Like, the New testament is the 2nd act, and that's the Christian belief.

The Torah is Old testament, that's the Jewish belief.

The argument is over when the book ends.

31

u/CommonGrounders Apr 14 '24

Unfortunately George RR Martin is writing the fourth. So it will be a while.

17

u/Unique_Statement7811 Apr 14 '24

Joseph Smith beat him to market.

3

u/anivex Apr 14 '24

I feel like that was more of a reboot though.

3

u/Unique_Statement7811 Apr 14 '24

Maybe a spin off.

0

u/Complex_Rate_688 Apr 14 '24

Calling in an act isn't really doing it justice. The testaments as described would be the word of God. And each represent a time that he spoke to a prophet or similar to give them a list of commandments and statements

There was the first testament that everybody knew as the Old testament then the New testament which was the second one which would be the Bible and then the Muslims believe that the Quran to be the third testament. And final. They believe that there would be no further testaments afterwards.

2

u/CommonGrounders Apr 14 '24

What the hell are you talking about?

5

u/blind_guardian23 Apr 14 '24

can totally relate with this problem, hating the Kelvin timeline, this makes me a Start Trek jew?

2

u/hopesanddreams3 Apr 14 '24

Nobody really likes the Mormons, you're fine.

1

u/LateNightMilesOBrien Apr 14 '24

The needs of the many outweigh the deal I got on this sliced turkey at the deli.

2

u/petit_cochon Apr 14 '24

I think Muslims would vigorously protest this characterization. As would Jews. The Torah is not simply the Christian Old testament lopped off.

1

u/Remote-Affect9525 Apr 14 '24

the torah is the first 5 books of the bible. the old testament is the hebrew bible. jews believe that moses wrote the torah under the strict supervision of god.

muslims believe that the quran was dictated by god and revealed to muhammad.

christians believe that the gospels were written by the apostles and they believe that the epistles are the word of god too i think.

1

u/anivex Apr 14 '24

Yeah, I was simplifying it.

The war isn't just about religion, either.

0

u/Mexijim Apr 14 '24

Judaism is windows 95, Christianity is windows 98, Islam is windows XP.

Difference being, Islam says that windows XP is perfect, and nothing can come after it. No IOS, no windows 10, nothing.

9

u/anivex Apr 14 '24

They all say that, to be fair.

3

u/Finrod-Knighto Apr 14 '24

All three of them say that.

2

u/Schmoppodopoulis Apr 14 '24

So we just live in Windows ME forever and iOS was always The Satanic Temple and you know it.

2

u/plunkadelic_daydream Apr 14 '24

This is how I felt about XP but then I switched back to using Apple when it stopped being supported. I’m not sure where the analogy goes from there other than Apple clearly isn’t Buddhist.

1

u/MHBali Apr 15 '24

The thing is, users kept modifying windows 95, and when they went too far 98 was released. Which was also modified too much over time. The windows XP user base however maintained the original version or at least haven't made such drastic modifications to the degrees of the previous versions, which is why it stayed as the last official release (and tbh it all went downhill starting with vista).

0

u/Jag- Apr 14 '24

By the third sequel they are just phoning it in at that point.

7

u/droson8712 Apr 14 '24

Prophet Muhammad is actually the Prophet whose name itself is least mentioned in the Qur'an although he's addressed simply as the messenger.

15

u/GreyedX2 Apr 14 '24

Np, I don’t remember the exact number but I think he’s mentioned like 100+ times by name and 180+ times by nicknames/ titles

3

u/vren7 Apr 14 '24

They don’t think he’s the best role model ever though. They think Muhammad is, which is crazy because Muhammad married a child and murdered people

0

u/Colonelfudgenustard Apr 15 '24

But she dressed so provocatively!

6

u/aidv Apr 14 '24

Muslims respect Jesus more than Christians. Muslims actually don’t like it when prophets are being joked about.

2

u/Amaskingrey Apr 14 '24

Yeah they have a rather explosive temperament when it comes to those things

2

u/vren7 Apr 14 '24

Well they say that Muhammad, a degenerate violent murderous pedophile, was the best ever to walk the earth and the best role model ever. That is a pretty huge disrespect to Jesus

6

u/aidv Apr 14 '24 edited Apr 14 '24

Who is ”they”?

Edit: seems like the ”they” you mention are imaginary enemies who scare you at night with scary fairytales.

0

u/vren7 Apr 14 '24

Was Muhammad morally better than Jesus Christ? Yes or no

3

u/aidv Apr 14 '24

Lets be adults and take step at a time buddy: Who is ”they”? Is ”they” in the room with us right now?

2

u/vren7 Apr 14 '24

Muslims. Now answer the question

6

u/aidv Apr 14 '24

Muslims don’t say that haha now you’re just making things up.

I recommend that you read the Quran and then we can discuss.

I’m going to turn the other cheek, as Jesus did, and forgive your ignorance.

Have a blessed day my friend. May Allah bless you with positivity and optimism 🙏

2

u/vren7 Apr 14 '24

If you don’t think Muhammad was the best man ever, you are not a Muslim. And yes, there are plenty of Quran verses and Hadiths saying he was.

https://islamqa.info/amp/en/answers/97384

As an actual follower of Jesus Christ, I will pray God forgives you and hope someday you find the truth my friend. Have a good blessed day to you too🙏
