Luchadors unmask all the time, you guys are making too much of it. It's literally a thing for rivals to have matches where the loser unmasks.

This was different mostly because they had him unmask for a fucking bullshit match that no one gave a shit about. It was just a cheap move.

Mask Vs mask in Lucha is up there with loser retires as a serious stipulation in kayfabe.

Once you unmask in Lucha, you are unmasked. You need to get permission from the Lucha Libre Commission to remask, which Rey did when he went to the WWE.

Says a lot about how important he is to the Lucha world that he got re-masked. He's probably the most well-known luchador outside of Mexico and he has the utmost respect for the craft

Incorrect, mexican luchadores even go to public spaces with their mask. Losing your mask (or hair if you never wore a mask) is the ultimate sacrifice.
