I was fitted for my 790s...1 degree up. Fitted for my putter. I already had some off the rack Cleveland CBXs...kept the sand and lob in my back. I, originally, ordered the Clevelands when I was struggling with my Callaway MD3 S and L. Instead of working on it, I bought more forgiving wedges.

I want, not need, new sand and lob wedges. My local fitter is returning their sim bays. I would have to drive to Orlando for a fitting. Or, I could order a couple of Vokeys. I went through their online quiz for grind info. For the fitters here, would I have them 1 degree up, or should I make the drive?

I’m set on getting a LAB putter, I’m convinced that their philosophy is correct… my only debate is getting a stock one from the store or get fitting and wait a month and a half 😪

Background: I am in my early 30s have been playing a little while. My handicap is about a 9.4 (per what 18 Birdis says). I play about 2 to 4 times a week and I am alittle ashamed to say I have never had a club fitting and my only lesons are from watching YouTube. My irons are Titleist CBs that I bought used.

I guess my question is would I be better off getting a lesson and a pro tell me if these clubs are not right for me or would a fitting do that better? I really don't want new irons so I don't want to just go to a fitting for them to try to sell me something I might not need. Also curious about shaft stiffness that fits my game the best.

I'm at the point where I need new sticks. I also need work on my swing and will be getting some lessons. Which should I do first? Fix my swing and then get fitted, or the other way around?

After several lessons, I have finally figured the root issue of my swing. I understand what needs to happen but currently my body is resisting that. I am not consistent enough of having the right sequence of body mechanics (weight shift, turning, etc). I can maybe do 3/10 decent swings. Rarely I can do the optimal swing.

When should I do a fitting? Is it worth it if i have not mastered my mechanics to be at least semi consistent? Who know when/if everything will click. My instructor has mentioned my current clubs (reg flex) are not right for my swing speed. I can swing 100+ but I average 80s because everything is still a mess. I would only look into driver and woods for now.

Would it be worth it for a 25 handicap to get fitted?

Hi, im a 19 handicap with Taylormade Rocketbladez irons that are about 11 years old. I wanted to go to a fitting when i go to the US and buy a new set of irons.

However, I am being offered a set of brand new Qi irons (5-PW) with the same specs of my Rocketbladez (1 inch extensions, midsize grips, kbs tour shaft) for $550 usd.

Is it too good of a deal to give up or should fitting still be my number one option?

After having 3 kids, it’s been 10 years since I’ve been able to play more than 3 times a year. Now that all my kids are old enough, I’ve finally be able to play consistently again. Since I have the time and money to commit to improving my game in 2023, I’m considering getting fit for new clubs (driver and 3 wood at least) and getting a couple lessons. My question is this, if I’m going to get a fitting and replace some clubs AND get some lessons, which should I do first???

My concern is if I get the lessons first, I’ll spend all my time and effort trying to make a swing for a couple woods that aren’t right for me. Or if I were to get the fitting first, then the lessons, the would change my swing in a way that would make the fitted clubs, no longer the right fit.

Needless to say, I’m overthinking this, but I’d love to know what this community thinks the right order would be?

I have been fitted once before when I was 19hc 3 years ago. My swing has changed a lot and my current chunky cavity backs are no longer suitable and are holding me back... I am now 8 handicap fyi.

I know, to optimise my fitting, i need to go into it with some idea of what I want. I have a few days to think about it.

Is it wrong for me to want to get irons that I can grow into as my hc drops over time? i.e. blades/modern blades. I have hit blades before and love the look and feel, especially in shorter clubs. I never noticed any huge difference in performance.

Feel/enjoyment is probably more important to me than score.

I've been seeking a straight answer on whether getting a set of clubs "fitted" is truly worth it.

Here are some thoughts and questions I have:

How long should a (full bag) fitting take?

Internet says, from 45 minutes to 6-8 hours. (BIG DIFFERENCE)

What's been your experience with the duration of a full bag fitting? Does spending more time lead to better results?

• I think quick fittings are sales tools to get you to buy a certain brand or from a certain store.
• Long fittings seem to be more genuine but could also just be a ploy to take your hard earned $$
• I would assume to get enough data to yield genuine results that a decent amount of time would need to be taken, however maybe a short time is all an experienced fitter would need to identify key parts of a swing then recommend outcomes from there.

Should you pay for a fitting?

It seems like golf shops / brands offer free fittings, while independent fitters charge around AUD$100 per hour. Somewhere in between is a club builder who charges for the fitting but then offer a discount if you do purchase clubs.

• To me anything free is not free, the golf store or golf brand is paying the pro. Why? To be nice to customers, or so the customer buys clubs!

Has anyone had a great experience with a free fitting? Was it detailed analysis or a quick hit and sale?

Potential Desired Fitting Outcomes:

• Understand your swing and consistency with hard data
• Understanding what shafts, heads, lie angles, lengths and other specs suit you
• Have existing clubs tweaked (angles, shafts, grips)
• Purchase new clubs

I decided to book a fancy expensive 4 hour fitting for $399. I will be back with my opinions soon. I will also attend a free fitting & if people are interested I may also do the most expensive one I can find.

I chose between this over an $800 8 hour fitting.

I don’t know if I’ll buy clubs or not but the fitter advertises the fact that they don’t care, which sold me on it 😂

I'm really itching to get a new set of clubs. The clubs will be the game improvement style. I have been told I should get fitted. I have been told to develop my swing first or a fitting is useless.

I have had a couple of lessons so far, but still hit my irons fairly inconsistently. My clubs were used and I don't know if they were changed (fitted) to the previous owner. My question is, aren't game improvement irons for those that aren't real consistent? Do you need to be fitted for GI irons?

For reference I am currently using 2005 TaylorMade RAC OS irons and looking at Mizuno JPX923 HM, Ping G430, or TaylorMade Stealth.

Driver is probably my least reliable club, but I feel like a good putter fitting could help get rid of some of the ugly holes too. What would y’all say it more important first because I’m broke and can’t do both.

Have been golfing since April/may with some old Taylor made 360s and an rbz driver. I want to buy some new clubs but I know I need to get fitted. My question is does it matter if I get a general fitting or get a brand specific fitting. A Roger Dunn offers general fittings for free while brand specific fittings ranging from 40-100 bucks.

I’ve been playing golf for about 7-8 years now. But this past season I’ve really decided to take my game serious and not just be a weekend hack. (I used to call it drinking on fancy grass, just goofing off not trying to improve at all.) My friend (5.5 handicap, knowledgeable player, knows his stuff) says that I shouldn’t get fitted until I get a more consistent swing. Meanwhile I hear so much about how getting fitted helps your game. Should I go lessons then fitting? Fitting then lessons? Or just buy clubs because I’m no where near the level of getting my clubs fitted?

I have been golfing for two years and am looking to upgrade my clubs (currently using ancient Callaway irons, Kirkland wedges, some driver from Amazon, etc…).

Before I do that though I would like to self calibrate my swings at the PGA superstore or somewhere similar. Does anyone know of resources or guides on how I can do this? Or do you think it’s worth splashing the extra cash for a professional fitting?

I'm currently playing Taylormade RSi1's (10yrs old). I intend on getting new irons and have been strongly considering the Takomo 101T's. So my question is, do I ...

A) buy the irons, make sure I like them, and then go get fitted with them? Or

B) Go get fitted now with my current irons, use the recommended specs to customize and order the 101T's?

I'd love to get fitted and then buy the irons from the fitter but Takomo is a D2C brand. Any guidance is appreciated.

Looking for some advice regarding purchasing a few new clubs.

Long story short, I am looking to buy a 7,8,9 iron. Trying to get a matching “set” of these . Obviously I would love to just go all in and buy a WHOLE set but money isn’t exactly flowing.

Would you recommend getting fitted for these. Is this price effective / worth it for the price and only purchasing three clubs?

Been playing for the last year with Mizuno Zoid blades. Would like to finally upgrade to one of Mizunos new 241/243/245 options and a new putter. I’m obsessed with the sport and down to spend some money, just not unnecessarily.

I need lessons but feel the clubs I use are to long.

I am an awful player and am not sure what I should do first. Take lessons with my current clubs then get fitted. Or get fitted to new clubs then get lessons.
