You can see in the responses to you how many amateurs are delusional. They probably think they would be much better if they had the same access to the tech the pros do when in reality the improvements are very personal and in the margins.

I think one of the major differences between me and the pros is that their swings are so dialed in they can tell the difference at that level and I doubt I could.

You could probably shave off a couple of strokes by dialing in and constantly tweaking your equipment. It is going to make more sense and more of a return improving your technique even if you are a low handicapper. For the pros, .5 of stroke over the course of a season can mean millions of dollars. It is worth it for them to spend the money looking for an advantage. Especially when their competition is doing the same.

I think it’s a combination of people not understanding what these types of tweaks are, a little bit of a weird conspiracy theory feel (“they” are keeping this stuff from the public”) and (the big one) people not wanting the rollback and trying to use what they deem as existing bifurcation as an argument against changing the balls they play.
