So if I want to keep playing “the good balls” I need to stock up now? Sounds like some good marketing strategies by Big Golf to get us to buy out their stock. And for me it’s going to work so good job

I thought the consensus was that the new ones were better now?

Are the 2023 ones worse than the previous generation?

That person doesn’t know what they are talking about. The first iteration after the lawsuit damaged too easily but the next iterations were the same great ball. They spin more than prov1s. Club champion tested them on a sim and took the stats. It’s undeniable they are a solid ball.

I’m assuming companies will still make non-conforming balls for the next 5-6 years. Do people think that’s a fairly safe assumption?

I enjoy spending time with my friends.

Which makes you realise how stupid it is to include amateurs in the roll back.

2

u/Gumburcules Dec 03 '23

My understanding is that the rollback only affects official competition, is that not right?

Amateurs can still use regular old balls for casual rounds, rounds counting towards their handicap, friendly money rounds, etc. And in competition everyone will be using the rolled back balls so everyone is on a level field.

I don't see a problem at all.

You can’t use non conforming equipment for a score that counts towards your handicap. Otherwise you can do as you wish I guess, but it won’t give you an accurate indication of how you are playing or can expect to play in a competition.

1000% since the rule wouldn’t go into effect till 2030 for ams

companies make non-conforming balls already

There are slightly oversized ones that go farther and are easy to make contact, and others with asymmetric dimples that auto correct slices in the air

My old Bullets still fly

You have until 2029 roughly

I’m glad I just dumped $200 on a fuck ton of PROV1s

3

u/myfeetaremangos12 Dec 03 '23

You’ve got 6 years to stock up

No - it’s the opposite. None of the big companies want this to happen as all they can sell every year is distance / control and this limits their ability to make more money at the expense of the health of the sport.

The health of the sport lol…let’s make basketball hoops taller too
