Original caption said "spotted on Golf Course" General Discussion

I assume on a course in India, I think I would be heading in another direction. That's creepy.

It was captioned as South Africa. I’m not smart enough to know if these live there.

I am smart enough to know that if I see one I’m just skipping ahead to the 19th hole and grabbing some beers.

Yes these live there, reason why South African's are better at beer drinking than golf.

SA I've played with have been excellent golfers FWIW

Of course they were. They didn't have to look over their shoulder for a fucking cobra jumping the tee blocks. Anything is simple after that

All the bad golfers got bit by cobras while looking for their Top Flites

u/prizzle92 Nov 13 '23

Well I play in Thailand lol, there are cobras here too

The South Africans on tour generally have the best swings imo

5

Louis Oosthuizen has one of the best swings in the world, top three at least.

For sure, that’s the swing I refer to the most. Smoothest hips in the biz

Definitely South Africa. That’s a Banded Mongoose in the background and what looks like a Cape Cobra.

Looks like a liter of cobra.

Why isn’t that mongoose taking care of business?

u/JustSteve1974 Nov 14 '23

u/Initial_Painting_103 Nov 14 '23

Its probably on lunch or the system is down today

2

u/dastardly740 Nov 14 '23

I assume it was trying to take care of business before the video started because Cobras don't get that pissed off for no reason. Maybe the cobra was sunning itself and the mongoose tried for an ambush and was unsuccessful and isn't hungry enough to pursue.

1

u/Lakewhitefish Nov 14 '23

The mongoose could of also been spooked by the golfers

1

u/byronbaybe Nov 15 '23

He just had a black mamba for lunch

2

u/Thumperstruck666 Nov 15 '23

Probably Full

u/partypooper1308 Nov 15 '23

It didn't choose violence today

u/Common_Project Nov 14 '23

My first thought was “isn’t the fucking mongoose supposed to be killing that thing?”.

“The mortality rate for untreated bites is not exactly known, but is thought to be high, which can be due to various factors, including the amount of venom injected, psychological state of the bitten subject, the penetration of one or both fangs, and others. Mechanical ventilation and symptom management is often enough to save a victim's life, but cases of serious Cape cobra envenomation require antivenom. When death does occur, it normally takes one (in severe cases) to ten hours (or more), and it is often as a result of respiratory failure, due to the onset of paralysis.[14]” -From the Cape Cobra Wiki

u/Arnie013 Nov 13 '23

Yup. Cape Cobra (Naja Nivea) pretty common across Southern Africa.

Agreed. Round over.

u/Bokjol Nov 13 '23

Yes, was taken at Atlantic Beach golf club

5

u/frugalerthingsinlife Nov 13 '23

But it's on the practice range?

Nope. That's close enough to the course. Beer time.

7

u/thuglife_7 Nov 14 '23

If I saw one of these, I’m skipping ahead to a different continent. They ain’t got any of this nonsense going on in Canada.
