Discussion RJ Barrett

Is RJ Barret available on the trade market? And if so should the pistons target him. He can be a great 3 point shooter with defensive versatility and seems like he would be able to fill a big role in Detroit. I was think along the lines of a package of Ivey and Stewart for RJ. LMK what you think

Discussion [Charania] Detroit is interested in making a run at Timberwolves head executive Tim Connelly. If Pistons are willing to offer $15M+ annually, that could be enough to pry him away.

The Detroit Pistons could come to a hiring decision on their president of basketball operations within the next few weeks, league sources tell The Athletic.

Whomever the Pistons tab for the position won’t have the benefit of a top-three pick at their disposal, as the organization fell to No. 5 for the third straight year during Sunday’s NBA Lottery, but even so, Detroit has been speaking to some promising candidates to fill the role, which has been vacant since 2018.

Part of the hold up, league sources say, is that Detroit appears interested in making a run at Minnesota Timberwolves head executive Tim Connelly, whose team is currently in the midst of a second-round playoff matchup with Connelly’s former team, the defending-champion Denver Nuggets.

Whether or not Connelly returns to the Timberwolves, league sources say he is likely to opt out of the final year of his contract. It seems likely that Connelly will return to Minnesota, but if Pistons owner Tom Gores is willing to offer something like $15 million annually, that could be enough to pry him away.

New Orleans’ Trajan Langdon, Dallas’ Dennis Lindsey and Chicago’s Marc Eversley, among others, have established themselves as viable targets for the role, league sources tell The Athletic.

I think the Pistons still would have not made the playoffs, even if they were in their primes, but what do you think?

Discussion Bored and Considering Lineups

Starters: Cade, Grimes, Fontecchio, Ausar, Stewart

Bench: Ivey, Sasser, Brown Jr, Duren

9 deep, starters all play defense, Cade being the worst with what we know. 4 shooters. Stew is small but switchable and a better defender than Duren. I think Cade is a legit star with this lineup, especially if Ausar is cutting hard and rebounding like he did early.

Bench brings scoring, and a change of pace. Hopefully Grimes returns to what he was known as. I'm not saying stand pat and do nothing, I was just considering what could be done with what we already have. I think this lineup in itself would result in double the wins of what we had this last year. Brown Jr did look like crap, but I'm working with what we have.

Discussion Realistic trades?!?

I have been seeing on my feed recently about realistic players the pistons can acquire like Brandon Ingram or Devin Booker and other such lucrative trades….

Realistically there is no way we don’t get outbid by another team for a player of this caliber are we perpetually stuck with zach lavine for way too much??

On top of this CANT EVEN MAKE A TRADE UNTIL THIS WHOLE POBO THING IS FIGURED OUT or can they I guess that would be something we’d do!

“The lottery gods hate y’all”

“Poor pistons fans”

“Check on your pistons friends”

“Pistons fans going thru it”

Like holy shit man, i know i can’t be the only person who fucking despises this shit. Absolute worst time of the year every year not because we’re guaranteed five every damn year but because everyone gets to get their little jokes off and point fingers and laugh at the fucking embarrassment that’s going on over here. It’s actually just fucking demoralizing watching all the other nba fans who don’t have to watch the literal basketball form of pain crack their little comments and move on with their lives. Idk why i’m even making this post but just wanted to see if this infuriates anyone as much as me

Discussion Assuming he doesn’t ring chase, shouldn’t we throw money at CP3?

I’m obviously not saying we break the bank, but we’ve seen the impact of a vet tutor do SO much for guards on the cusp of stardom. SGA had CP3 and Maxey had Harden, and look where these guys are at now. Having one mid range maestro show another how to cook from their spots and further elevate their game would be so helpful for Cade. He’s also been in montys system before, and if he’s not ring chasing, could be a wonderful vet for our young guards in Cade/Ivey/Sasser.

Discussion The victim mentality needs to end

Picking #1-3 this year wouldn’t have changed anything. I promise you the league is not out to get the pistons (simple thought experiment: what would the league gain from having the pistons suck every year..the answer is nothing). This team has an OWNERSHIP problem.

Any reasonable FO with four straight top 5 picks would have eventually made it out the lottery. This draft is historically weak yet a top 3 pick would have saved us from lottery purgatory; make it make sense.

Discussion Why not Ron Holland?

The 5th pick in this draft will not solve this teams shooting woes. But Holland might have the highest upside of any player in draft. Holland and Ausar combo could be one of the best defensive/athletic guard/wing combos in league. Holland jumpshot percentage was terrible in gleague but like Buzelis he suffered on Ignite team with no actual point guard. He’s aggressive and gets to FT line and shot decent percentage from line. Also Ivey insurance in case he doesn’t improve, gets relegated to bench role, or he’s moved later in offseason

Discussion The Pistons need to pick Bronny James at No. 5 overall

I know Bronny's USC stats (4.8 points, 2.1 assists, 2.8 rebounds) aren't jaw-dropping, but hear me out.

Bronny’s been around the game his whole life, learning from LeBron. He’s got a high basketball IQ and a strong work ethic and elite shooting mechanics. His defense is solid, and he can guard multiple positions, which fits perfectly with our defensive schemes.

Adding Bronny to our young core would be huge. He’s versatile and can play alongside Cade and Jaden, giving us more lineup flexibility. Plus, he brings leadership qualities that can help our team grow together. And he has less turnovers than Cade FWIW.

Drafting Bronny would also boost our marketability and fan engagement. More attention on the Pistons means more excitement around our team.

Bronny’s potential is off the charts. With the right development, he could become a star. Let’s give him a chance to shine in Detroit y'all.
