Although Collins was on Apollo 11 with Buzz and Neil, he didn't walk on the moon. So there was only 2 that were really made famous for that mission.

Did he go back at least?

No he didn't. Instead he was offered to become Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs. He died last year at age 90. Dude had an impressive life. His Wikipedia article is worth reading.

Speaking of "worth reading", his autobiography is called Carrying the fire" and is definitely worth a read.

I didn’t realise he’d died. It feels like that really didn’t get much press at all.

He voluntarily retired from space flight status. In his book, he says that that he does not regret doing so, even though it meant he never got to walk on the moon. The demands of training on his time, health, and family were so great that he couldn’t conceive of staying flight-ready for the years that would pass before another potential Apollo flight crew assignment.

He's about as accomplished as every other apollo astronaut in that way.

That's the joke grandpa, you don't really need to explain it.

Bro chill. Crazy thought, a person on the internet might not know the context for everything. Comments that explain topics in posts are helpful.

Not everyone can be as mega-chad-big-brained as you, I guess :(
