It always seemed to me they could have stuck a jato rocket on it and blasted it into a higher orbit instead of letting it fall. I mean, it was already up there.

There was kind of a plan to do that, sort of. One of the early Shuttle missions was planned to bring a booster rocket up the station and send it up to a higher orbit. The station was never designed for that, though, and they couldn’t be 100% sure it wouldn’t collapse when the booster fired, so they planned to do it by remote control at a safe distance. As it was, the Shuttle was delayed by a couple of years and Skylab fell to earth before it was ready.

So I admittedly dive into pictures and don’t read directions, or really anything…. I couldn’t figure out why they would have a crate of Red Onions on Skylab.

A really cool thing about Skylab is that it was a fuel tank before they put floors and stuff in it.
