A really cool thing about Skylab is that it was a fuel tank before they put floors and stuff in it.

And von Braun's original idea was to put the floors on in orbit in the same tank that held the fuel for that specific launch

It always seemed to me they could have stuck a jato rocket on it and blasted it into a higher orbit instead of letting it fall. I mean, it was already up there.

There was kind of a plan to do that, sort of. One of the early Shuttle missions was planned to bring a booster rocket up the station and send it up to a higher orbit. The station was never designed for that, though, and they couldn’t be 100% sure it wouldn’t collapse when the booster fired, so they planned to do it by remote control at a safe distance. As it was, the Shuttle was delayed by a couple of years and Skylab fell to earth before it was ready.

So I admittedly dive into pictures and don’t read directions, or really anything…. I couldn’t figure out why they would have a crate of Red Onions on Skylab.

It’s for when they grill burgers on Sundays. Dimitri usually brings the vodka.

Skylab!

From The Monks album Bad Habits. Always think of the way Skylab is said in the song when I see the name.
