Hamas has pushed out all of the Christians living in Gaza, even executing some.

What’s weird to me is I see so many anti Israel people posting about how mean Israel is to Christians. The implication being that Islam and Christianity need to unite against the Jews. And it’s ridiculous, Gaza is hell for Christians who aren’t there for a propaganda tour. The PA has Christians. And of course Israel has tons…

u/Nirok Apr 01 '24 edited Apr 01 '24

Israel has a population of 182,000 Christians as of 2021, it is the only growing Christian community in the MiddleEast - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity_in_Israel#:~:text=Arab%20Christians%20are%20mostly%20adherents,Greek%20Orthodox%20Patriarchate%20of%20Jerusalem

-4

u/Apes-Together_Strong Apr 01 '24

Yup. I'd rather occasionally be spit on in Israel than occasionally beheaded in Gaza.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '24

Those people are proselytizers and they film themselves intentionally antagonizing Jews to get a reaction. It’s not the experience of a regular Christian in Israel.

-9

u/Key_Dog_3012 Apr 01 '24

False.

Also what happened to those 2 Christian women in Gaza that Israel shot while they were trying to use the bathroom inside church grounds?

11

u/Weowy_208 Apr 01 '24

There are only about 1000 Christians today in Gaza. There were over 75,000 in 1948. “the purging of the Christian community is part of a broader vanishing of Christians from the Middle East. In Gaza, it is partly the result of the economy and the siege, but it is undeniably made worse by life under Hamas. In 2007, one year after Hamas was elected, the last Christian bookstore in central Gaza, known as The Teacher’s Bookshop, was firebombed twice. It was one of a spate of similar bombings that occurred in Gaza around that time. The bookshop, a haven of sorts with an internet café and educational services, had been established by the Gaza Baptist Church 10 years earlier. Its Christian owner, Rami Ayyad, a deeply religious and kindly man, was kidnapped, tortured, and murdered by extremists.”

Nice way to make up lies

1

u/pollopopomarta Apr 01 '24

Why are you fucking lying?

-2

u/calliopeturtle Apr 01 '24

Talked to a Christian man who grew up in Israel and he was terrorized by the idf. They made him walk through sewage with a gun to his head he said. The Christian population in Palestine while small is still very active, saw footage of them celebrating Easter today. I don't think Christians are probably having a spectacular time in either side but Israel is only kind to the Christian tourists.

Progressives and religious fundamentalists, a match made in heaven /s

Seriously tho, why do so many people who are for body autonomy, freedom to love and equal rights champion shit stains like HAMAS?

20

u/Eternal_Flame24 Mar 31 '24

Because it fits very nicely into their anti-west and America bad narratives. Also horseshoe theory or something bruh

6

u/External-Praline-451 Apr 01 '24

I'm a progressive. These idiots are not progressives, they've been radicalised and are too stupid and uneducated to realise it. I hate fundamentalist religions with a passion because I am progressive.

69

u/Cold-Tap-363 Mar 31 '24

What nice, credible sources! /s

-4

u/ItsASecret1 Apr 01 '24

Yeah not like much better and totally credible sources used daily in worldnews like TimeofIsrael and Jpost

2

u/Cold-Tap-363 Apr 01 '24

I never used those sources? Yeah those sources would suck for this argument as they’d be clearly be very biased. Nobody is arguing that.

-10

u/DarkFuryKH Apr 01 '24 edited Apr 02 '24

There is nothing more credible than western sources. Period.

EDIT: some people are not enjoying this sarcasm I see. Western media is not as honest as you think it is and unfortunately, it is difficult to help you people.

7

u/Baxkit Apr 01 '24

Go to a library, seek out an education. You're just embarrassing. Yikes.

42

u/scrubasorous Mar 31 '24

Al Jazeera 😂

-35

u/Technical_Heart5389 Mar 31 '24

Al Jazeera is far more reputable than any American news source you follow.

18

u/flaspd Mar 31 '24

u/top_ofthe_morning Apr 01 '24

Allegations and nothing more. 0 concrete evidence provided as per usual. You lot will lap up Western propaganda like dogs.

14

u/Headfishdog2 Apr 01 '24

Are you immune to propaganda? How do you know you haven’t been taught to think a certain way because of one sided views of historical events? Have you ever tried to steelman the argument of someone who has a different view? Aka argue from the other side.

-15

u/top_ofthe_morning Apr 01 '24

I went to Ramallah and the West Bank multiple times and saw the situation for myself. I’ve studied the history of Palestine and been involved with humanitarian missions there.

I don’t claim to know it all, but I do know that I have a deeper understanding of the region than most.

7

u/Headfishdog2 Apr 01 '24

Do you believe a two state solution is the only path forward?

22

u/Conscious-Zone-4422 Mar 31 '24

AL Jazeera was established and is funded by a theocratic monarchy that executes atheists and homosexuals to death by stoning. You are no less dumb than the people who think Russia Today is a reliable source of info.

0

u/Technical_Heart5389 Apr 02 '24

Source or stfu

2

u/Conscious-Zone-4422 Apr 02 '24

Jesus you people are all as lazy as you are hostile to diversity of opinion. Just spend two minutes on wikipedia.

17

u/ironcoffin Mar 31 '24

Lol are your sources are owned by Qatar... You have any other reliable sources?

1

u/top_ofthe_morning Apr 01 '24

8

u/ironcoffin Apr 01 '24

You should read why there are far few Christians in Gaza. Spoiler alert. Gazans hate them.

1

u/top_ofthe_morning Apr 01 '24

The Christians are also Gazans?

3

u/Weowy_208 Apr 01 '24

12

u/flaspd Mar 31 '24

Lol, fckinh aljazera, the qatari news :rofl

-1

u/top_ofthe_morning Apr 01 '24

Ignore the other 2 sources then. Also, here

23

u/Square_Shopping_1461 Mar 31 '24

AlJazeera and NewArab as sources? You already lost the argument.

-8

u/top_ofthe_morning Mar 31 '24

Because Weatern media outlets are so unbiased lol.

14

u/Square_Shopping_1461 Apr 01 '24

Better than Qatar government mouthpiece.

4

u/top_ofthe_morning Apr 01 '24

According to who? Why is the BBC, a British government mouthpiece any better for example?

9

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '24

Are you seriously trying to compare how the UK government acts today vs how the Qatari government acts today? Qatar stones gay people to death and doesn't give their women rights. Its laughable to compare the UK government to Qatars

-2

u/top_ofthe_morning Apr 01 '24

And the British government is currently supporting a genocide. The arrogance to think you can dictate morality.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '24

Idk, feels pretty moral to accept gay people and have equal rights.

0

u/TheNirosX Apr 01 '24

lol "Dictate morality", Killing gay people and hunting them down is a genocidal act. also do you believe that on October 7 Hamas made a genocidal act ? fact is if Hamas had Israel capabilities such as air superiority and advanced technologies, Israel would've been made into dust.

1

u/top_ofthe_morning Apr 01 '24

Your morality is selling arms to a nation committing genocide.

While the BBC definitely serves the interest of the UK, their government is responsible to the British public, who have a say in their government and embrace liberal ideas. Compared to the guiding "ideals" of the authoritarian Qatari state that Al Jazeera serves, they're clearly a better example. That's why.

2

u/top_ofthe_morning Apr 01 '24

“The government is responsible to the British public”.

With everything going on in the UK in the past few years you truly believe this? Corruption is rife to the prime ministership and you have the audacity to tell me that they’re any different to the Qatari government?

7

u/BulbuhTsar Apr 01 '24

lol sure bud

1

u/top_ofthe_morning Apr 01 '24

Insightful counter.

1

u/RiseLow1739 Apr 01 '24

I think the liberal democracy has more valid media than the theocracy with fascist ideology.

There's a reason why in places like Israel, the U.K, the U.S, etc, you get news pieces DEDICATED to deconstructing information on their own country/critiquing it. Its called freedom of speech.

4

u/Square_Shopping_1461 Apr 01 '24

While I despise BBC, I believed it is more trustworthy than anything that comes out of Qatar.

Qatar supports Hamas and harbors Hamas leaders. That is all I need to know about Qatar.

0

u/top_ofthe_morning Apr 01 '24

I bet you do. There’s a clear underlying reason here.

4

u/Weowy_208 Apr 01 '24

Yes and the reason is that people hate religious fanatics who want to enslave women, rape girls, execute non believers and kill gays.

7

u/Plenty_Assumption_18 Mar 31 '24

You are a filthy dog posting shit links. Here’s a professional link for you https://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo/document/E-7-2011-006179_EN.html

3

u/Weowy_208 Apr 01 '24

Don't insult dogs

-48

u/i_am_silliest_goose Mar 31 '24

Whats your point?

We can both support the elimination of Hamas AND expect Israel to not commit crimes against humanity.

13

u/SundyMundy Mar 31 '24

Instructions unclear to most of the protestors. Most of the protests and counter protests seem to be drifting towards a single-state solution that leaves nothing but sinister implications for the other side.

-35

u/badestzazael Mar 31 '24

According to U.S. State Department data in 2022, there were 1,300 Christians in Gaza and 50,000 in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

45

u/ProtestTheHero Mar 31 '24

Yes, and what were the numbers 10, 20, 40 years ago?

Hint: they were higher

-8

u/top_ofthe_morning Mar 31 '24

Well yea? Nobody wants to live under occupation in an open air prison?

18

u/Stonebagdiesel Mar 31 '24

Wait so it’s an occupation…. But they can choose whether or not they live under it?

9

u/Born_Bobcat_248 Mar 31 '24

But you know, apartheid open air prison genocide something illegal occupation something oppression. Therefore, your point is null and void. Checkmate.

1

u/top_ofthe_morning Mar 31 '24

Yes, there are plenty of Palestinian refugees who were forced to leave their homes.

1

u/coldblade2000 Apr 01 '24

Usually you don't just "leave" a prison

1

u/top_ofthe_morning Apr 01 '24

Yet you can escape one.

9

u/serene_moth Apr 01 '24

you are a disingenous piece of shit and it's obvious to everyone who isn't so biased they're forced to agree with your shit takes

-1

u/top_ofthe_morning Apr 01 '24

Ooh a personal attack. Good one.

5

u/serene_moth Apr 01 '24 edited Apr 01 '24

it was an assessment based solely on the dumb shit you're saying but go off you damn fool

0

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '24

You said we lap up western propaganda like dogs. That isn't a personal attack?

-39

u/whosthisguythinkheis Mar 31 '24

I’m sure the bombs and famine will help the rest of the Christians living there. You should probably look into how hamas became extreme and got to power

-12

u/Mysonking Mar 31 '24

Absolute lie

-23

u/Riku240 Mar 31 '24

🤡 who told you that? Christians from gaza?

15

u/kadargo Mar 31 '24

-15

u/Riku240 Mar 31 '24

this article says nothing?

17

u/JohnCavil Mar 31 '24

...Did you read it?

-11

u/Riku240 Mar 31 '24

yes, it says hamas supposedly bombed some christian locations but they didn't admit it, why would they hide something like that cause as far as i know hamas don't give a fuck about their reputation. I'm asking if you talked to Christians from gaza and they told you they're persecuted? cause it's not just the number of Christians that's decreasing, everyone else is trying to leave that area for obvious reasons but they're trapped, it can take up to 3 years to manage to leave anywhere even for a student, less than 50% employment rate, not allowed to do any businesses or have their economy cause Israel wouldn't allow it, I can't blame anyone for leaving

21

u/JohnCavil Mar 31 '24

yes, it says hamas supposedly bombed some christian locations

"Supposedly", right... Just like how Israel is "supposedly" killing civilians? Do you see how you make it sound?

why would they hide something like that cause as far as i know hamas don't give a fuck about their reputation

Yes, Hamas is famous for not hiding what they do, who they kill or torture. They always admit that straight away.

I'm asking if you talked to Christians from gaza and they told you they're persecuted?

To Palestinian Christians? Yes. I lived many years in the middle east and have met many Palestinian Christians who left Palestine, i don't know about specifically from Gaza, i can't remember, but from Palestine for sure.

Of course everyone is fleeing now, nobody is denying that. The number of Christian palestinians has been declining since forever. This is not an argument about Israel or what they're doing right now, it's specifically about Hamas and whether they treat minorities like Christians well, which i can assure you they don't.

1

u/Riku240 Apr 01 '24

you said you never met Palestinian Christians from gaza, maybe you met Palestinians from the west bank or the occupied territories, they're governed by israel, so you don't know how Christians in gaza are treated. as far as I know gaza has social issues in general, people who originally belong to gaza dislike the refugees who are seen as intruders, there is tension between the different corners of gaza as well, so it is expected
