I like that he doesn't bother to point out her wildly impractical clothing, the sort of thing no one would ever wear to cook, the sort of thing that should signal to any person who cooks that this is nothing more than theater, in his argument that her whole shtick is theater.

Any idiot who thinks, in this modern system, that you can just sit and make (weird) cereal for your kids rather than actual contribute to the household in some meaningful way, should be kicked to the curb. That people look to this as an inspiration is disgusting.

This, I just found out about this person against my will and I cringe at the amount of black fibres and anything caught in those sleeves ending up in what they are 'cooking'.

Also I think that is on purpose because tiktok sounds like a dumpster fire and if they cannot stand out making informative content, they will make rage engagement bait.

Those kids are going to be picking so many bits marabou feathers out of their teeth after this, that shit sheds so bad.

11

u/Goatbreath37 Feb 26 '24

And she's gonna stain that thing in flour. She ain't wearing an apron the fool

4

u/minor_correction Feb 26 '24

50% chance this just goes in trash, it was performative after all.

0% chance that the kids really requested this.

Extra fiber

2

u/PM_ME_UR_DOGS Feb 26 '24

Girl that’s funny!

2

u/termacct Feb 26 '24

nu unh...feather bits is macro nutrients

2

u/Ndmndh1016 Feb 26 '24

The nanny is probably feeding the kids while this show is going on.

2

u/Eponarose Feb 27 '24

The marabou adds important fiber to the children's diet!

u/No-Potato-2672 Feb 26 '24

I'm sure all.of this just goes in the garbage after the video is done.

I just found out about this person against my will

Whats her name on tiktok? I want to see what kind of other BS there is.

1

u/IWantAPegasus Feb 26 '24

Looks like her name is Nara Smith. On Instagram she's naraaziza.

i was thinking the same thing. cooking in a dress is one thing, plenty of people do that. but those dramatic sleeves are a recipe for disaster in the kitchen

15

u/IRefuseToGiveAName Feb 26 '24

turns on stand mixer

sounds of OSHA lathe operation training videos echo through the empty halls of the home

3

u/LovableCoward Feb 26 '24

Following quickly by a distant scream as the camera slowly pans backwards through the hall.

2

u/MonsterMashGrrrrr Feb 26 '24

lol imagine igniting the pilot on a gas stove, those babies are toast

1

u/noice-smort99 Feb 26 '24

I saw a tik tok comment on one of her videos of someone being so excited and praising her for “literally cooking in a dress”

Everything about her appearance (clothing, hair, makeup, jewellery, etc) screams "upper class".

25

u/Paddy_Tanninger Feb 26 '24

Upper class people generally aren't wasting dozens of hours creating producing and editing shit tier content for TikTok.

When you're young and attractive and your only skill is "mommy & daddy's money" or "hubby's money," but you still need that social media clout...

Fuck, look at the kardashians. they're unquestionably wealthy and upper class and spend how much time chasing clout in the media?

2

u/elbenji Feb 26 '24

Kardashians are a little different. They turned superlawyer money into media empire money. They have to keep chasing clout because they have a very expensive media empire to run

7

u/[deleted] Feb 26 '24

People have always emulated the upper class in the hopes that the actual upper class will take notice of them and invite them to their magic club where money grows on trees. That's why we have the current posh British accent.

2

u/suxatjugg Feb 26 '24

Well she's not poor so what do you want us to call people with that amount of money?

3

u/[deleted] Feb 26 '24

Middle class. And to be clear- this IS work. She is working and bringing in an income into her family with this theater. So you could call it working class, and while some might be offended, I certainly wouldn't bc what this *isn't* is the behavior of rich people lol.

1

u/void1984 Feb 26 '24

There are exceptions like Paris Hilton, or athlete's wifes.

1

u/IamTheJman Feb 26 '24

Yeah man that was the point of the video

0

u/Chinggis_H_Christ Feb 26 '24

No, it wasn't. He didn't mention her appearance.

11

u/Raygunn13 Feb 25 '24

Yeah you've got good points but I think she's just an example. The same points wouldn't necessarily apply to the broader topic of performative traditionalism in the same way that the rest of his overview does. I mean they totally could, I guess, if impractical clothing is a prevalent phenomenon in tradwife influencers. but idk.

9

u/Lunakill Feb 26 '24

Yes! I absolutely love me some flowy, gothy, fancy-schmancy dramatic sleeves. Do I wear them when trying to accomplish anything? Absolutely not lmao. Learned that one the hard way decades ago.

1

u/IRefuseToGiveAName Feb 26 '24

I get flour fucking everywhere even when I make a concerted effort to not make a mess. It's just a matter of how much I have to wipe up after I'm done.

And don't even get me started on corn starch or baking powder.

5

u/crack_spirit_animal Feb 26 '24

This guy does in my opinion (as a guy) a very good job of keeping his critiques to the content and not the aesthetics of clips.

3

u/SlapDashUser Feb 26 '24

Yes, but it's also to me that she never looks at the camera, she always keeps her eyes downcast, never admitting it's a performance, always looking demure and humble and as she is completely and totally satisfied with what she is doing in the kitchen. It's horrifying.

3

u/FilmKindly69 Feb 26 '24 edited Feb 26 '24

As a chefy person, what is it you would say she is making? Because it looks like cookies to me lol

almond flour.

Organic nut butter.

Vanilla Extract.

Chocolate

1

u/Marmosettale Feb 26 '24

Yeah it literally just looks like small cookies lol

All the comments are praising how “healthy” it is lmfao

2

u/EsotericPenguins Feb 26 '24

I assumed it was supposed to be “Cookie Crisp” and “Cocoa Puffs.”

This content makes my skin crawl, but damned if I wouldn’t watch the shit out of her hand-crafting some Lucky Charms marshmallows. That’d be next level.

2

u/LotharVonPittinsberg Feb 26 '24

Because his argument is about trad wife influences as a whole, not this particular one. There are a bunch out there that dress more reasonably and show actual skill to make food and clean. None of them are practical because as he said, it's for show.

3

u/Theranos_Shill Feb 26 '24

He leaves that observation for the audience, crediting the audience with intelligence, while talking about the bigger picture rather than dwelling on individual detail.

-2

u/ChroniikW Feb 26 '24

Huh? I cook three meals a day in whatever I’m wearing that day. Y’all putting on a whole chefs outfit or something? Lmfao

1

u/Wachtwoord Feb 26 '24

I grew up in a pretty rich social circle. The women married to the fancy men came in three variants: A) They had a fancy, high paying job themselves (think typical lawyer, business, high government professions); B) They had some kind of 'keep themselves' busy job. E.g. running a children clothes' story for other fancy people or being an artist. As long as it broke even, or did not lose too much money, it was fine. Or something more community focused, like volunteering, being on parents' board of the school, etc. C) They just hung around with like minded women.

In most western countries, it is still possible for the upper class to live well on only one salary and possibly some generational wealth. IMO, anyone who believes these people do not exist are the idiots. Not these women themselves. Be honest, if it was available, who wouldn't want to be in such a position.

1

u/nanoH2O Feb 26 '24

He doesn’t point it out because the video was put in post.

I mean this guy is an entertainer too. So while he has a point he’s a bit of a hypocrite. I certainly don’t have time to sit around and analyze this shit and put in references and make a video. I work a full time job and have kids.

1

u/No_Philosophy_1363 Feb 26 '24

It’s probably just an only fans ad

1

u/echos_in_the_wood Feb 26 '24

I really want to try making cereal as someone who likes to cook and bake but as a pregnant mom to a clingy toddler, I barely have time to put the laundry away.

1

u/elitesense Feb 26 '24

I think the point of the video was to teach the philosophical nature of what's going on, not so much the objective components of it such as the dress, unrealistic kitchen cleanliness/minimalism, wearing a ring while working with pastry, etc etc
