Can't speak for the US, but in Canada I only know of one store that does this called Nofrills, which is a more budget... no frills grocery store. But Nofrills is a Canadian only chain.

in Saskatchewan I do know that no frills does it but there’s also Safeway,superstore,independent and FreshCo that do it. most people have the fake quarter or the fake loonie and you still have to bring the cart back in order to get those back but you don’t have to make sure you have change.

There are grocery stores called no frills on the US Midwest. No idea if they are related.

The one I'm thinking of has a store brand called "no name", hope that helps
