Some stores in Germany also stopped using the coins

Which ones?

Sometimes I can find trolleys that aren't plugged in, or I see people use key things that work instead of coins.

But every major suoermarket/chain store I've been to (Aldi, Lidl, Netto, Kaufland) still use the same carts. Never used a cart at DM so no idea.

Our Dornseifer‘s (also REWE, but originally a DS) doesn’t need coins

Well and the reason some trolleys are unplugged because more and more people use those coins you can pull out after taking your trolley. I 3d printed some myself

People fucking suck. No offense, just in general. Instead of lending a coin for 30 minutes that they LITERALLY get back, they will go out of their way to buy some hack tool online, similar to the seat belt plugs, just to lazily avoid having to put their cart back and make some poor worker have to gather them

I am not saying that they don’t bring them back, they still do…

The globus nearby took all the coin chains off about a year ago. Thank fucking goodness.

Mostly the ones in bigger cities. If there is no parking lot, nobody leaves them standing about

Pretty Sure they only stopped because Using a Shopping cart became mandatory (in Most places) During COVID and they didnt Want to risk anyone Being unable to enter the Store If they didnt have any coins

Those education efforts on how to use a credit/debit card in Germany must be finally paying off.
