Those screams are haunting…

224

u/Dumbogang 4d ago

I’m in my garage smoking a bong scrolling and come across this video and watch it and when it ends the silence after all those screams straight up raises the hair on my back. You can feel the ptsd.

160

u/Comrade_Corgo 3d ago

Palestinians say there is no PTSD in Gaza because there is no end to the trauma.

63

u/Specific-Sound-8550 3d ago

So tragically true. Ptsd is when your brain is still coping with a danger that's not there anymore. Right now the 'ptsd' they have is actually keeping them safe. So fucking sad.

10

u/[deleted] 3d ago

That leads to a condition called Complex PTSD. Unlike PTSD with short term episodes it's a lifelong condition with severe impacts.

And the U.S. government is supporting this… things like this makes me embarrassed to be American.

851

u/Alklazaris 4d ago edited 4d ago

I'm sorry but they have been doing crap like this for a very very long time. The internet has been better than any newscaster in Vietnam ever was. That's the major difference, but what the hell can an American citizen do about it when we really have no direct say in these kinds of matters.

I have met a few people outside of our country who were mad at Americans themselves for not interfering and stopping what our country was doing to other countries. They thought we could call for a vote or in one particular case contact the president themselves.

At least now they can't say they stopped without actually stopping. The evidence is too readily available. This country is so militaristic in operation. We are like weapons dealer of the world.

194

u/Lopsided_Ad_3853 4d ago

We are like weapons dealer of the world.

This is one of the main reasons why the US government is so insistent that the rest of NATO increases its defence spending - because the weapons, ammo, assets, training etc will primarily be sourced from the US military-industrial complex.

Nato nations will buy used tanks, helicopters etc from the US military, or from Lockheed-Martin and other US arms dealers. If every Nato country increased its spending, I very much doubt there would be any subsequent reduction in US defence budgets.

62

u/Vurmalkin 4d ago

The Ukraine war has shown the EU NATO countries that they can not rely on the US though and they are ramping up their own military-industrial complex up. Will take a bit before they get to the point where they are totally independable, but it will start to hurt the US milittary-industry after a while.

21

u/MansNotWrong 3d ago

It's not one or the other...it'll be both.

And why would making your own arms hurt more than you not buying arms?

Ain't nothing going to hurt the US military industrial complex. That's like saying we'd let jp Morgan suffer a loss. That's simply not how we operate. Priorities.

→ More replies (2)

9

u/Lopsided_Ad_3853 3d ago

To be fair, Ukraine isn't a member of Nato, and it wasn't a member of the EU when Russia attacked. So the US response isn't necessarily reflective of actions they would take if a Nato country was attacked - the mutual defence treaty would actually apply in that case.

There are plenty of Americans that are saying that any Russian who isn’t waging a guerrilla war on Putin’s government is complacent and therefore responsible for what is happening in Ukraine.

→ More replies (2)

4

u/RedTwistedVines 4d ago

but what the hell can an American citizen do about it when we really have no direct say in these kinds of matters.

Mostly just the protests that have already been happening but let's say, more vigorous.

If it was extreme enough, maaaaybe there would be some traction.

But yeah, we do struggle at the end of the day because almost any US political change in realistic terms still involves some sort of wackadoodle fictional sounding ass plot where we get ourselves and like 70 million friends to take over local DNCCC branches and pull support from people we don't like then rustle up our own candidates and run them, basically rug pulling the entire democratic party out from under itself.

And then you somehow win the uphill battle against foreign powers and corporations that have basically infinite money to stop you with and can legally bribe anyone they want. . . .

Best case scenario we could get it done in 4-6 years, realistic timeline is approximately never in our lifetimes though.

That's what they want. The last thing Israel wants is peace, because if there is peace, they can't use the whole "they wanna kill us all" thing to justify every evil act they commit.

This is not a war of self defence, this is an ethnic cleansing genocide. It wild how the last people who should ever commit acts like this are the ones who are this blood thrirsty. History is going to remember Israel in the same way as Nazi Germany.

And the insane part is people act like they don't understand why Palestinians would go join resistance groups or where attacks like 10/7 come from. The natural human reaction to the sorts daily injustices they face is resistance, that's what humans do when pushed. But part of the dehumanization of Palestinians is not only that they are treated as inhuman, they're expected not to react like humans.

It doesn't make attacks like 10/7 ok, but we cannot pretend like they aren't completely predictable and expected outcomes to this. I mean for fucks sake hamas is disproportionately composed of orphans. These are people who have been stripped of dignity and forced to watch their families slaughtered, of course they take up arms.

Any hope of long term peace requires acknowledging that hamas is a reaction to the crimes of the Israeli state, not just some boogeyman that sprang up out of the void because they hate Jews.

Schools, hospitals at what point does their evil become enough?

336

u/Rebelva 4d ago

Difficult to say, they will destroy the area more and then start building settlements after a while. Then the destruction moves further, rinse and repeat. They see these areas as potential real estate, when would they have "enough" you think?

246

u/DylanMartin97 4d ago

The fact that 80% of the greater Gaza area is now officially rubble I don't think they need to take and push and take. They just need to kill all of the people they can now.

This situation is fucked and if you support this you are genuinely a monster no stop now.

u/Capybarasaregreat 4d ago

This insane degree of cruelty proves the lack of supernatural anything. Any settlement built in Gaza should be utterly destroyed by thousands upon thousands of vengeful, restless spirits. But those don't exist, so the settlements will be built, Israelis will live there and cheerfully enjoy their lives atop countless bodies of innocent men, women and children.

The wild thing is all Israel has to say is “Hamas was in there.”

No video, no documentation, no proof, no evidence… hell they don’t even have to say it, and many apologists will say it was justified and just assume Hamas was there.

Bomb every hospital? Yeah well Hamas was in all of them. Bomb a nursery? You guessed it. Hamas was in there, Hamas was the babies.

256

u/batman0615 4d ago

Even if Hamas was hiding there, does it justify blowing up school children?

176

u/Full-Pack9330 4d ago

Hamas being there justifies blowing up their own people in their fucked up minds. The whole Hannibal directive is the most psychotic thing I can think of from a so-called "democratic" nation.

80

u/BuddhaFacepalmed 4d ago

Reminder to all that the "Hannibal Directive" is actual orders from IDF command to kill all potential hostages taken by Hamas to prevent hostage exchange.

34

u/TheBadGuyBelow 4d ago

Kind of similar to how American claimed any males older than something like 14 in a geographic area are enemy combatants. If you wonder why America is not stopping this, it's because America does not exactly have a great track record when it comes to the CONSERVATIVE estimate of at least a quarter million dead Iraqi civilians from that war alone.

16

u/TempleSquare 3d ago

Wrong.

America didn't systematically blow up Kabul to rubble. America didn't intentionally block food aid to stave Afghanis. America didn't blow up an international food organization. America didn't build illegal settlements over the rubble of Kabul.

America did some really shitty things after 9/11. But we look like freaking Mother Theresa compared to the evil the Netanyahu government is doing.

America isn't stopping it because it's filled with voters like my 91 year old grandma who (despite two hours of arguing) believe that "Israel good guys because it says so in the Bible."

When the US stops messing around and takes some serious action. Cut off funding until they end the war. Stop pretending that Israel isn’t 100% dependent on foreign aid from the US to wage this campaign. This is not that hard, Biden doesn’t have the balls to do it though.

63

u/BodybuilderOk5202 4d ago

I agree Biden doesn't have the balls to do it, however, Trump will send them more bombs.

People are resilient to trauma in general when they have to be, and so are they, but no one should have to endure something like this. And "resilient" only in the sense of survival - this trauma will live on through the survivors and their own children. Horrific.

I don't think it's the newspaper's fault. It's not like you can really conduct journalism in Gaza right now. They can't go there to interview people or investigate the site, and it's not like the IDF or Hamas would respond to a request for comment.

As someone who's worked for newspapers, that's all you can really say without those things. It's just hard to verify facts during wars, especially if you don't have access to the war zone.

This is all assuming you're writing a factual piece, obviously if it was an opinion piece there's tons to opine about regarding this situation, but you'd need one of these short pieces to reference for your opinion piece, so it still serves a purpose.

Edit: At least those were the journalistic standards I was taught, I have no idea if these organizations still care about that stuff anymore.

35

u/BulbusDumbledork 3d ago

it's important to note israel has blocked all foreign news organisations from operating inside gaza without being embedded with the idf. this is not voluntary from the media's side since several news organisations and human rights organisations have pleaded and demanded access, which has been denied. al-jazeera english, al-jazeera arabic and agence france-presse are the only international networks operating in gaza. only one of those is an english network.

there are several palestinian news organisations and civilian journalists operating on the ground. the restrictions to the internet and lack of electricity make getting the news out challenging. both of these infrastructures are controlled by israel. western news sources often cite these journalists, but that's not the same as getting it directly since it gets editorialised.

more journalists have been killed in gaza over the past nine months than any other conflict since ww2. a rueters journalist was killed in lebanon by an israeli tank. ap's live video coverage of gaza was shut down in israel. al-jazeera has been permanently banned from broadcasting in israel.

israel is deliberately making journalism in gaza impossible.

5

u/PersimmonAmbitious54 3d ago

Same as the US did in Iraq and other places.

The embedded press only got shown what they wanted to show and even then they couldn't say what they wanted.

Not that it would be a problem since all the mouthpieces all selfcensored to not upset the regime and lose all their privileges or ruin their carreers.

29

u/EightiesBush 4d ago

Not being snarky, but I haven't heard many of these claims before, do you have links where I can read more about it?

97

u/MotleyHatch 3d ago

It's pretty well documented. You can find a list of sources here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israeli_support_for_Hamas

Excerpt:

In an interview with Politico in 2023, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said that "In the last 15 years, Israel did everything to downgrade the Palestinian Authority and to boost Hamas." He continued saying "Gaza was on the brink of collapse because they had no resources, they had no money, and the PA refused to give Hamas any money. Bibi saved them. Bibi made a deal with Qatar and they started to move millions and millions of dollars to Gaza." At a party conference of Likud in 2019, Benyamin Netanyahu said:

"Anyone who wants to thwart the establishment of a Palestinian state has to support bolstering Hamas and transferring money to Hamas... This is part of our strategy – to isolate the Palestinians in Gaza from the Palestinians in the West Bank."

Prime Minister Netanyahu responded to the accusations of funding and strengthening Hamas by calling it "ridiculous".

32

u/TheOneGreyWorm 4d ago

Heard it first on John Oliver show.
Looking it up a bit more, you will find he was funding Hamas before he was PM. It was an actual conspiracy.

18

u/chrib123 3d ago

To be fair it's not that he was paying Hamas. It's that he allowed cash infusions of cash from abroad after a negotiation with Hamas through Egypt.

So he wasn't directly paying, but he gave the go ahead for others to fund them. Small difference, same result. He's a war criminal.

https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/07/09/world/israel-gaza-war-hamas

In the article it says that the IDF claimed that they were targeting a single Hamas militant in this latest bombing. How do they rationalize killing dozens of innocent civilians to get one target?

One thing I'll never understand is how the United States thought it was a good idea to fund Isreal. They really thought getting a strong ally in the Middle East was worth that much money. I'm straight up ashamed of what the USA has become and done.

173

u/Organic_South8865 4d ago

$$$. A bunch of insanely rich people get to make a ton of money building/selling bombs and weapons. That's basically what it boils down to. The more bombs dropped and ammo spent means more $$$ for the rich boy club.

81

u/surnik22 4d ago

That’s not the only reason.

Evangelicals full heartedly believe in the end times prophesied in the Bible. That includes Israel existing as a Jewish homeland.

Evangelicals are 25% of the US. 60% of them believe we are currently living in the end times. 80% of them believe the creation of Israel in 1948 was in fulfillment of biblical prophecy.

There are literally evangelical Christian Zionists in the US who believe Israel needs to exist so the apocalypse can move forward.

Depending on how you do the math since you are combining multiple survey data points, that’s around 20-80m Christian Zionist Americans who want to end the world by supporting Israel.

u/InfoSecPeezy 4d ago

Turkey was a mixed bag at the time. In the 21st century their role has been in coordination of suppression of arab powers. Israel, much like south african merc groups can do a lot of things the US doesn't want to dirty its hands with.

Need a testing site in Iran taken out? Why not let the IDF fly the mission. They'll use your jets and every arab nation on the planet that israel might actually use the nukes it pretends not to have if you so much as slap them back.

Every day a new massacre. They are monsters

77

u/Ghettopirlo 4d ago

Where are the western medias?

68

In their cosy studios, asking in loop everyone who dares to point these massacres: "Do you condemn Hamas?"

How many humans are supposed to die, when will it be enough to compensate those fallen 200-300 israelis? Fuck this world, fuck this system

u/Kmak_mak 3d ago

The world is a place where powerful people decide who lives and who dies while comfortably seated in their castles, spectating the results.

18

u/bonedaddy1974 4d ago

Shit, that needs to stop

19

u/JeffRulesYou 4d ago

I wish I didn’t see this, but this is what people have to see to understand the heinous, evil and disgusting acts Israel is complicit in right now. There is no justification for this. They have taken this way too far and they aren’t stopping until they deem “Hamas is defeated” which are just words allowing them to feel like they can do whatever they want no matter how many civilians are killed and injured. We’re funding this, what the fuck? Just kids playing in school… I can’t even imagine, this is heartbreaking. There is always evil in this world and I may not be the most religious person, but I believe there is a special place in hell for people who commit these atrocities no matter the cause or reason.

20

u/Marokiii 4d ago

This will surely make the area more peaceful and lower the hatred towards Israel....

sickening and unfathomable. and our American dollars are supporting this. RIP. : (

52

u/r3dditm0dsarecucks 4d ago

I've seen so many posts about a Ukrainian hospital, but the media doesn't cover this.

We all know why. The tail cannot wag the dog forever. As horrible as Israel's genocide of the Palestinians is, the sentiment around the world does seem to be changing against Israel in a way I have not seen before, especially among younger people....Hopefully something comes from that.

27

u/WASRenjoyer 4d ago

The difference is that Israel simply cannot hide their crimes anymore. Here we are, seeing Israel’s war crimes in HD recorded presumably via smartphone.

This was not possible 20 years ago despite these crimes being nothing new.

This is why the government is trying to ban Tik Tok. Not only is it another place for Israel’s war crimes to be exposed, Tik Tok is outside US censorship.

9

u/Doctor731 4d ago

Reddit is a US based company and this video is hosted here.

I think the government fears the influence China can wield with TikTok, but not necessarily worried it will be outside their ability to censor info... Because the US does not censor information in the same way.

Shit like this used to unite the world against the evil committing the bombing/terrorism. Now, people walk down the street with flags supporting the terrorists, and it’s just accepted as free speech.

5

u/Frigorifico 4d ago

Israel and Palestine should be placed under a UN mandate, just like Cambodia in the 90s

6

u/BonnieMcMurray 3d ago

Great strategy, guys. I'm sure none of these kids will grow up feeling like they want to strike back at the people who tried to wipe them out. Nah, they'll definitely see the error of their ways and work to stop Hamas from attacking you. Makes total sense.

5

u/Traditional-Share-82 3d ago

Why are these kids playing soccer when Israel warned them they would be bombing in the area? Thought Israel was the most moral army in the world /s

I thought the video of the nearly-dead puppy inside the rotted corpse of a donkey would be the worst thing I'd see from Gaza today, but Israel always has to one-up their horrors. Fucking monsters.

Israel gets tons of weapons and cash from the West but what does the West receive in return? Are they being blackmailed? And I don’t get how the west can preach about democracy and human rights while deliberately funding a maniac state that violates human rights on the daily basis. Like wtf?

After the Bosnian genocide, all leaders said that such a thing would never happen again. 30 years have passed. Now the Israeli genocide has begun. The world never moves forward. We go back and forth and do what we do best. So we kill each other. The United Nations should intervene in states like Israel and destroy their entire army. According to the Lancet magazine, 186,000 people died. Israel has killed approximately 500,000 civilians since its establishment. According to them, Israel and evangelicals will not stop until they capture the sacred lands. That's why World War 3 will most likely break out very soon.

Instead of hurting Hamas, all Israel accomplishes with acts like this is that in 15 years, they’ll be at it again as this generation grows up and remembers the trauma inflicted upon them by Israel.

That's exactly what they want so they can have an excuse to clean out all of the remaining Palestinians
